How acurate is E90 oil sensor?

Just change oil 3 weeks ago and indcator show 3/4 full after service. 2 weeks later while 'surfing' the BC to see for any abnormal parameters show the oil level indicator drop to 1/2. Sensing something amiss so continue to monitor and today i check the level is show Min and +1?? There is no low oil warning indicator all the while and i check the floors, engine undercarriage splash guards but found no evidence of fresh oil leakage. Underpan was dry as well. Could this be the sensor problem? Shd i add 1L of oil and continue to monitor?

It seem like the N46 engines have this common issue. Any gurus can advise? Thanks.

Bro, i got the same issue few months ago. my low engine oil lighted up. Suka suka warn me, suka suka quiet for few days. what i did was to top up a few drops when it lighted up and it went away already. Till now ok... Must be some sensor problem..

Usually I would wait till the following day and check the sensor again before deciding to top up the oil. I experienced one moment the warning sign popped up and immediately the following day the sensor indicated full oil level (4/4).

I just went to the Doctor to cfm engine leakage. Doctor inspected the whole engine and tell me there is nothing of a leak observed. Decided to drain the oil out and verify but found only 2.75 litres present!! Ok...something is not right here..Doctor advise to top it off with 5W60 (super thick) and monitor the situation. Sensor based on this case shd be OK. The worrying part will be internal problem such as valves seals or piston rings. Funny thing is no special smoke coming from exhaust and drive is OK.. will monitor and see how..

I discourage you to use 60 weightage oil..its way too thick for modern engine...go find out where the leak is...
