Hi,

Can anyone advise how to determine the suspension is spolit? Let's say if you press down the side boot and the suspension give a pretty loud squeaking sound, which part can go wrong? Is it to change bushing or absorbers, etc or it is time to change the whole coilover?

squeaking sound requires lubbing. very likely the shocks.

you will know, if fronts, you will know when driving when the spring rate is different between the 2 you will feel the steering twitching on minor bumps.

others also the shocks are softer causing more travel in the piston on sharp bumps, eg rubbing of your fender inside skins and tyres.

if stock you can do a press test,
On a flat /level surface.
normal shocks should not have more then 1 rebound,

i.e. you press down and release, the suspension should rebound and then settle.
old shock will tend to bounce one more time.

physical inspection, is there oil leaks from the suspension?

I have been experiencing the squeaking sound, seems like coming from the front wheels...what is the best way to solve it? Thanks!

Your suspension is stock? Did u go over any pot holes or bumps recently? Possibly your suspension could be bent. How many km have u run.on it?

Re: How do you know ur Suspension is "up the lorry"?

Stock suspension...hitting 95K km......for such cases , do i need to change the entire suspension or replace some parts?

Re: How do you know ur Suspension is "up the lorry"?

At 100k mark change your suspension regardless of condition...guranteed big improvement..

when u stop ur car and it boing boing up and down a few times like taxi

Re: How do you know ur Suspension is "up the lorry"?

Hi,

u can test the shocks and struts by doing a bounce check. Drive around and if the car rocks too much, you may need to replace the system.

If there's a knocking sound from the car, kinda like a "clunk" sound, especially from the front when going over bumps, check that the struts are properly greased.

Also, If the car looks lopsided or if the ride height looks low, the springs in your shocks may be worn. Check the ride height by measuring how high your car is on each side. Do an accurate measurement as opposed to a visual check if you can, as small differences might not be obvious to the naked eye. If you're on stock suspension, check the ride height specifications for your suspension by looking in the owner's manual.

Hope this helps :)
