To all the E60 experts out there,
Just did a inspection of a '07 E60 with a reputable BM workshop.
They throw out a list of issues, mainly around the tires control arm, rear and front. Issue is cracks seen at the connecting part to the tires. Repairs estimated at $2k.
Seller cited these as normal wear n tear, to be replaced only when car start giving sound, else ignore.
Are these normal usage parts wear n tear, or is there more than meets the eye?
Should continue the purchase?

If the control arm you're referring to is the front suspension lower arm with rubber bushing, then there are 2 arms (forward and aft if I recalled correctly). One arm has oil-filled rubber bushing and the other has just a rubber bushing (I can't remember which is forward and which is aft). Usually the rubber bushing would crack after say 50,000-80,000km, depending on how hard the car has been driven.
For the arm with oil-filled rubber bushing, the cracked bushing can be replaced without having to change the whole arm. For the arm with just rubber bushing, the whole arm needs to be replaced if the bushing is cracked. In either case, repair cost should not be more than SGD800 for a pair (left and right).
