How much to offer?

looking at a used F10

model : f10 523i (pml car)
year : 2010
omv = $42k
coe = $44k

assuming the car was sold at $200K+-

$42k x 2.3 + $44k (coe) + $60K (margin) = $200k+-

$200K / 10 years = $20K / depre per year ($20K depre for f10 seems reasonable)

2.7 years used = $54k depre

$200k - $54K = $146K ? of coz, dealer is not selling $146K ... it's $180k+-

what's your take ... how much to offer?

i check many PI car also selling at similar pricing, cheaper one comes with small idrive ... :(

Re: How much to offer?

I will wait for the 60 days to be over.....

Re: How much to offer?

Yup. When the new regulations kicked in .... Sales dropped. Then given 60 days reprieve .... Got sales.

So if new regulations kick in again ..... Just before it kicks in there should a price drop for some dealers.

Re: How much to offer?

You will pay a higher depreciation as the second owner for the remaining 7.3 years simply because of prevailing COE prices, and hence the market prices of 2nd hand cars. Basically, someone who bought a car in the past for a $1 COE could earn a tidy profit if they sell at current prices.

Side note, you should include the scrap value in your calculation. The depreciation will be lower for the 2.7 years. Then you will see how much margin you will really pay the dealer. It's crazy.

Re: How much to offer?

I also think u can get a better deal if you can afford the higher down payment after June 3.

Re: How much to offer?

Garmen's pattern zuay gue badminton.

Re: How much to offer?

2010 535 from pml are going at 190-200k , so i suppose 523 can be had for 170-180k.
Most of the 2010s cars are having 40-60k km on the odometer now, if your target car is of low mileage then worth a little premium.

If not PI car then check with PML on its last servicing record and see the mileage .......

Agreed. Ask for PML servicing records to prove the mileage, and ask seller if he can bring it to a sponsor workshop to assess. Anything that needs to be changed, just knock it off the price. Good luck!

Re: How much to offer?

if it is not PML car, there is no way to verify the mileage?

would you trust outside workshop invoice indicating the mileage on last servicing?

I think Rod mentioned before that it could be verified via OBD. Maybe u could SMS him to find out more.

Re: How much to offer?

Can still check but need software. Mileage stored in at least 3 modules. If the job was sloppy then you can see the true mileage in one of the modules that he was lazy with.

Re: How much to offer?

Just to share.

I bought a PI car. It was serviced at two different workshops, so I got the service records from both workshops and try to match the mileage. Then also brought down for Rod to check. There are tell tale signs and certain data that can be retrieved from OBC. Conclusion was that everything was ok.

Anyway, not all PI cars are tampered with, and not all PML cars are in good condition despite accurate mileage.

My 2 cents.
