how often do u change ur engine oil?

Hi guys,

as above. did my first oil change today and was advised to change at intervals of 5K mileage. so frequent mehs? dun think I did that for my previous jap ride.

please advise brothers.

Hi dantito,

usually for the very first servicing is 12000km, but around 8000km got to top-up engine oil (for some) if not ard 9000km.

i oil change very 5000km to 5500km ( i kiasu ), hehe

my OBC says to service at every 12k
so ... 6k at BOSS and 6k at pml (1hr fast lane oil change service)
once warranty is over, pml is gone for good !!!

Unless its the first oil change for new car. where got need 5k km oil change interval.. Anyway I know a lot of hiadee do that. Its nothing wrong, but point is - is there a need to be so frequent. A good quality oil can last, dont use those 'boutique brands' as they do not last.

On my 320i, I change at 10,000km intervals. On the 335 which runs hotter, I change it every 8,000km. Good enough.

Depends on each individual driving styles and preferences, no right and wrong, but I think 10K interval is good enough (service indicator of pre FL E90 advised 24K interval, which I think is ridiculousl

Assuming using fully synthetic lubes,

For NA cars, every 10k km is ok

For TC-ed models, every 5k to 8k is ok

Anyway, the cost of engine oil versus having a healthy engine is a no brainer
