as ABD said, each time send car for service, the shop will say ... ehh ... your brake rotor or pad "seems" need to change liao !

Some car's hand brake are actually drum brakes.
The tension may be tightened by adjusting the springs, after removing the rear rotors at the
wheel hub; or adjusting the handbrake cable behind the handbrake lever.
These type of hand brake is independent from the "rotor + pad" system.

There is an "need to replace" mark on the rotor itself. If it start to squeak now, it mean that brake pad is need to be replaced.jonsuta;623696 said:Sorry to bring back an old topic.
For BMW's, there is an indicator that shows our brake pads have been worn out when the brake pads had been worn down to the sensor being exposed and rubbed (that's why new sensor need to be replaced when new brake pad has been replace). However, seems that there are no sensors for brake disc rotor that can be indicated on whether if our brake disc rotors have been worn and require to be changed.
Recently, my brakes are making squeaky sounds when I'm braking, especially when braking at slow speed. Is this a form of indication that the brake disc rotor has been worn down and need to be changed?

On stock pad, u need to replace rotor after 2 pad (roughly). Juz run ur finger through the rotor, if it is smooth, no need change.

Just recently (past two weeks), I've been hearing the squeaking sound when I brake, so I'm assuming that the rotors have reached its limit.
I'll check on the rotors for "need to replace" mark. However, how to identify the mark?
