Checked the owners manual but cannot manage to open up the bulb clusters and replace a burnt bulb. Could someone advise how to open up the and pull out the bulb? Spent an hr figuring how to open up the holder but no success.

Does anyone have any clear instructions for E39. I am replacing to Philips Diamond Vision H7.

Shall I do it myself (and risk damaging the holder) or leave it to mechanic? Wonder if it is a simple DIY or not.

Thanks anyone for help.

JHLim,

You can DIY it but need to be careful and not to break the headlamp adjuster.

Imagine the headlamp is facing you and you are changing on you left side low beam bulb. Turn the bulb holder (elbow type brown color) like loosening screw (anti-clockwise) but less than 1/4 turn then slowly pull out, due to the o-ring on the bulb holder you need some strength. If possible hold the headlamp reflector tight before applying force to pull it out to prevent accidential break of the adjuster when you miss cue.

Thanks bro ! Your instructions was clear and changing bulb was successful.

However, still notice that right side seems a little brighter than left although both are new bulbs. Alignment I guess..

By the way, where do I get to change the angel rings (if that is the right word) to all white and costs? Now the headlamps are white and the rings are halogen... weird I think.

JHLim,

The ring on e39 is on normal bulb mode, if you wanted to change to white color just replace the bulb but not as bright as e46 aftermarket type also need some skill to change it i.e. break the seal.

I think it look alright on standard, if red color will be much better and look like devil  at night, but too eyes catching and get unwanted attention.

JHLim,

Where did you buy your Diamond Vision from and how much roughly if you don't mind me asking.

My right headlamp gave up on me last night, thinking of changing mine to the white light.

Appreciate your help, thanks!

:)

I got my Philips Diamond Vision at Auto Trend at Kim Keat Industrial Park for $68 per pack (i think, memory failing) :( :( :(

Ask for Darren. They usually help you install the bulbs too.

Cheers

I got mine at Eng Soon also at $68 per pack (memory also failing)...

But I install myself thanks to Arsenal62 instructions... my first DIY job on my car myself...
