Our BMWs are very safe cars. Even if the lady wants to bend over to the driver side to help the driver with his... erm gearstick, the moment she unbuckles, the warning will chime. Driver has no choice but to push the lady back.

Not sure about bmw but i was told that some cars' airbags may not work if u disable the belt sensor cos the airbags assume the car is not being driven at that moment of impact (accident) - no driver or passenger!
