Hi

How will i know? the anormal engine crank sound? Take a few more micro second to start?

Or just wait for the car bc alert u on low battery?

Dun know should change the battery or not. another 2.75yr to go for the car. Or can test to check on battery status?

PML told me,

averagely an original BMW battery will last about 3-3.5years (stock audio)
Mine was charged up on 2 occasion during claim repair works.

Cheers ~~~~~~~~~~

my battery last for 1 year and 8 months only

Driving habits and patterns count. Short trips, long breaks, for instances. Usage, ICE, gadgets.....

But long cranks are definitely signs.

Check the alternator too, if your ride is old.

R2D Sir

Look like the best option is to make an appt with u and have the batt tested?

K. I also taken a photo of my current battery. Dun know the age of the batt as have the car for 1yr 3mth now.

Is the batt original or? Not sure of this brand......

no wonder PML told me averagely an original BMW battery will last about 2 years after they saw my heavily modded HiFi system.

Is original battery necessary?

Or oem battery is better?

I think R2D has several types of batteries for specific application ....... From deep cycle to agm to lead acid etc. Each has its pros and cons ......

For stock car use, after reading up from forums, original battery seems to last longer.

If you have sart sart ICE and like to run it without engine running, a higher AH rating battery is necessary.

If you want to be a fraction lighter on track, use the tiny Odyssey brand battery. Thats also necessary.

Bottom line is you requirement that dictates whats necessary.

Eg. For alarm clocks, is using high end energizer battery necessary or would a black cat battery suffice?

Just remember to have the new battery coded after your hange. If the workshop cant do it, dont change. Call BMW roadside assistance to come to you and change and go PML for coding.( i think if bmw roadside assist change your battery, can go pml to code for free)

Probably good to change battery every 2~3 years...

No need so frequent lah. Juz get it check every year.

Re: How to know battery going to up lorry? E90 320i

is not necessary to put back Original equipment battery
just look for the spec of battery like 70AH(stock) buy the same a higher will do(a little lower is still fine)
but some OEM spec like 80AH is over kill for some smaller engine capacity
unless you up gradeICE you may need to have higher capacity (AH)
you may see some number CCA / EN / CA I will said this number is not very very important here

Re: How to know battery going to up lorry? E90 320i

so the original batt for E90 320i is 60 or 70 or 80AH?

Mine is 60AH fr the pic. so will this cause the engine crank sound not as fast?

Re: How to know battery going to up lorry? E90 320i

Saw before your ride can register 60/70/80ah by default. Might as well get the 80ah (can hold more electricity). The CCA (cold crank amp) ratings indicates how the battery performs at cranking by the amount of electricity it can discharge to start the car.

This is assuming battery price diff not much .......

Just use a multimeter to test also can .....

Yes measure internal resistance of battery and see how much voltage drop across the int resistance by connecting ammeter in series and perform Ohm's Law calculation.....
