Dunno still there or not. The last time I worked in that area was 2009. There's a CKT store at the corner near the news stand and POSB ATM. Not the best CKT but was cheap.

And look for a coffee stall like 2 lanes away... kopi is still 70c. Best. His name is uncle choon, but I forgot the stall name.

When I was in the 'wealth accummulation phase' earlier in my youth, I would easily have gone with what bro detach8 said - eat $2 CKT everyday (fcuk what it does to my cholesterol levels) just so I could finance the next property or my next whatever. This kind of self denial, however, cannot go on indefinitely. Sooner or later, the body breaks down & then you start to question - "is it all worth it?" I mean, "what the fcuk am I doing this for?", "who am I leaving it all to?"

Looks like one shld not underestimate the people sitting in one corner quietly eating CKT everyday wearing G2000, casio watch, bata shoes and with a red leaf pen in the pocket. They could someday become your towkay. :lol2:

You forgot to mention ... the 5th fingernail must be kept long, and the all important 555 note book in the shirt pocket.

That completes the picture bro :) :lol2:

Re: how to measure affordability when buying cars ?

I once seen a middle-aged man walked into C&C showroom, no one hew him. He was dressed in tee, shorts and flip-flops. Kept very low profile throughout. Still no one hew him.

Finally a young salesgirl approached him.....

He bought a CLS350, traded in his 525. And wanted to pay cash for this and a SLK. I was a tad shocked.

The following week I saw him at Newton Hawker Centre. He is a stallowner there.

Those salesmen who bo hew him..... "dog eyes see people low"

Re: how to measure affordability when buying cars ?

I bought all my cars wearing t-shirts, old berms and crocs (no watch or gold chain). :woottt:
Actually, that's what I'm dressed in most of the time.
So far, I've never met any dog eye sales person.

House share, car nope. Wife has her own car, I have my own car. We pay our own. But if I ever need to dispose my car I will share her car with her.

Of course I can tell my wife not to drive it... actually she prefers her own car ROFL... she finds my car too big/cumbersome.

We pay our own.

You are lucky that your wife is so understanding:verysad:

False. Nobody knows me. Therefore I am not socially prominent. :naughty:
I am a figment of your imagination. I only exist on forums.
Maybe I am just not sensitive/conscious/bothered by how sales people treat me.

Re: how to measure affordability when buying cars ?

Actually it's not whether you wear tshirt and berms. is what TYPE of tshirt and berms also matter. giordano or ralph lauren?

Not only dressing, they probably see whether you are young or old.

I was shopping for a new car last year and went with a friend to Merc showroom at Alexandra. I was dress in jeans while my friend in bermuda and we are checking out the new C Class. We were interested to find out the pricing and approached the counter staff whom assigned us a lady sales person. I guess she is close to forty and looked rather atas type. She must be thinking "Bloody hell, assigned two young chaps to me. Sure won't buy.." She showed us the car but don't even bother to go through the features, just briefly say is new model blah blah blah. Then she popped the wonderful question - "So are you ready to place a deposit?". Knn, she did not even ask us whether we would like to go for a test drive. This is call "dog eye look people low". :biggun:
I was damn pissed and walk off. The rest is history, I bought from their neighbour.
