What about the time when STB outsourced their promo material chinese translation to some Chinese guy, and all the Chinatown when translated into chinese became zong guo cheng. I think someone's AWS must have kena docked that year man.
Incidentally, Zhong Guo Cheng was a huge KTV in the 80s, in HK, with Da Fu Hao. Bobby say one.

In HK, there are two ways to write Singapore's Chinese characters - XIN JIA BO or XING JIA BO. XIN as in STAR and SING as in NEW.......

XIN will be pronounced SENG in Cantonese and XING will be pronounced SUN in Cantonese.

Re: How to say New Zealand in chinese?

In China, airconditioner is called 空调 but we call it 冷气机 and they will look at you like you are some nut if you ask them how to adjust the 冷气机 during Winter.

Then, you go restaurent and ask for a spoon as 汤匙 and they will say you never order soup you want 汤匙 for what. It should be 调羹.

But KTV is same as Singapore. 出街 is applied everywhere. My friend say one

I know so is it Seng or Sun. In Hong Kong, they still say Seng but in Singapore, I hear all variations!

The one that really got me baffled for years is "Ji4 Suan4 Ji1".

I keep wondering how come the Chinese use calculators for everything. Then one day I realised it means computer.
