Hub centric rims

Rims that fit without rings would be ideal but most people change rims without considering this and some tyreshops don't bring this up unless you ask them to check the fit for you when you change rims.

Which is why it is crucial for people to do a bit of homework rather than pay the money and hope that every workshop in Singapore knows what they are doing.

There is nothing wrong in using hub rings as long as you remember to put them on. If possible go with metal hub rings instead of plastic just to be safe.

Putting non hub centric rims without hub rings can cause wheel bearing damage and possibly strip your wheel studs. Wheels can come off while driving as a result.

Dear Mr AC
If you are talking about driving at those motorsport condition, we surely wants it to be supeior quailty and condition.(no repaired of any tyre and rim at all)
we are now talikng about street driving on dry and wet condition.
Yes ,if a car is running on a wheel not centrely fits could lead to certain parts linked to our wheel prematurely worn ( not to the extend of DANGER )
Doing your home work is a good moved but do respect the vendor if things does not appear to be your expectation ,you can always ask why? listent to the explaination if it does make logical reason go ahead with them, because sometime we could have wrong and unpractical infos.
Do remember responsible for your own source of infomation.

Hi Robert,

Lets talk about street driving. Have a look at this and tell me if it is not to the extend of Danger.

The one thing that Motorsport and Street driving have in common in regards to running non hub centric rims without hub rings is that they will both damage your wheel bearings and possibly other components .

The only difference is that Motorsport speeds up the process quicker than Street driving. But be it motorsport or street driving, at some point it will fail. The "when" depends on driving style and usage.

If you are implying that I am being disrespectful to vendors in Singapore,I believe there have been a misunderstanding.

All I am saying is do your homework. When disagreement happens between consumers and vendors, it generally takes 2 hands to clap. Everyone has to take their fair share of responsibility. If after research and you are still equipped with wrong or unpractical information, then perhaps more homework is needed before carrying out the purchase.

At the end of the day you can do a write up in forums, report to CASE or boycott their products but it won't undo anything. It doesn't hurt to spend a little more time asking around, understand the relevant mechanical side of things and how it works, do a bit of measurement, etc.

My apologies for detracting from topic. Robert feel free to start a new topic or PM me for further discussions.
