Hurricane air filter, throttle reset and run in

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share my experience with the above-mentioned.

Hurricane

I've been using Hurricane for the last 2 cars and honestly, it hasn't done anything for FC or performance so I bought the Hurricane for my e90 just so I don't have to get a new filter every now and then. Popped it in and 12k mileage and guess what...

FC improved to 10.4km/l from 9.2km/l that very tank and it has been consistently stayed above 10km/l from then on. And I've been decidedly more heavy footed after installation too which is quite surprising. Which brings me to my next 2 points...

Throttle response

I feel it less because it doesn't readily kick down a gear when I tekan the pedal but speed does go up. It feels smoother across the rev range and the gear shifts are more gradual.

I reset the throttle by inserting the fob and steping on the accelerator for 30 secs and it works. It really does reset the slower more gentle throttle response to a fresh "like new from pml" throttle. try it.

Run in

I'm not sure how much of the FC improvement and the improvement in performance is because my car is now past the run in period. It's near 1st servicing now. But improvement from the time I installed the hurricane is too coincidnetal to be anything else but the filter right?

Well, just a sharing for those who are thinking of getting the modest mods for their cars. I'm not a dealer. I don't know any dealers. Just my honest opinion.

Re: Hurricane air filter, throttle reset and run in

Hi bro,
That's interesting. I just got my new ride n am looking to improve it's FC. Will change to hurricane filter next round.

A question on the throttle refreshing. How did u go abt doing that. Insert fob and step on pedal for 30 secs with engine running at what rpm? Sorry if my question sounds stupid. Newbie at this and first time owner of car.

Thks..

Ajay

Not at all...

Ok

1. insert fob. **DO NOT START CAR**
2. depress pedal fully and hold for 30 secs while the rest of the electricals start as usual.
3. start car as usual.

You'll feel the pedal have the "like new" "tight" feel.

Congratulations on your new ride... enjoy it!

My car is starting to feel a little more lively after 3000kms on the ODO.

I've done that throttle reset thing a couple of times, not sure if it really works. Not much difference to me.
