Idling speed unstable - E90

have occasional problem with engine dying in the morning. what is causing this problem?

:stop!:

If you go through past postings, since the E46 days, Valvetronic owners tend to report this occassional morning start-then-die engine problem.

Others had also observed fluctuating RPMs on the tacho. May be a simple thingy like plugged fuel pressure regulator. The worst ones report engine stalling in the middle of the road.

Is yours an E90 320i? If so, am surprised that the same Valvetronic-related issues are being carried over to the new 3-series.

Spoke to PML on the phone - he's not sure what is the cause so I guess I have to leave the car at the workshop again. In talking to BVO during an oil change, he suspect that its the V-Power that may have cause problems for the engine - too dry. BVO suggest that I switch to normal 98 octane petrol and monitor for a few tanks before taking next action.

Too dry? What does that mean?

Must ask the BVO guy. Guess its like wine, some are dry and others leaves behind a fruity taste. Anyway, I have about 3 or 4 tanks of Shell 98 already, no V-Power at all. No change with the fluctuation. Have booked appointment to bring it back (again) to PML after CHristmas.
