Ignition coil malfunction on E90 320i

Anyone experience this so far?
Encounter this when my car only about 6 months old but modified with IVAC and coil booster.

what is the Voltage u are on? Valvetronic, cannot go above 16V if I remember..

The voltage was set by the installer and I remember they said set to 16V.

which installer? why dun you bring it back to them? may be your coil booster or IVAC is faulty?

PML disgnoised is ignition coil faulty.
But because IVAC and coil booster were connected to ignition coil, I am guessing whether the ignition coil was damaged due to the IVAC and coil booster.
Anyway, I had been using the IVAC and coil booster for months w/o any problem. Hope they are not going to damage the new ignition coil.

best is to go back to the shop that sold u the Coil Booster and IVAC... have a chat with them and see what they can do to rectify..

That is only what I suspect but may not be true as I believe many bros have also installed IVAC and coil booster on their E90 but there is no complain of such problem. Hoepfully is a one off problem due to the ignition coil.

did u buy the coil booster and ivac brand new?

may be some other bro also got the prob but got it solved liao. lets see they will come in and shed some lights or not.

Just curious to know how PML reacted when they see the mods connected to the ignition coil. Did they allow you to replace the defective part under warranty?

They replaced the ignition coil under warranty. I asked if they tested the current going into the coil is ok and they said yes.
Looks like they did not detect the IVAC and the coil booster.

just installed mine today....

there are the 2 black boxes one gives off a red light and the other one blue.....how to not notice it? :screwedu: the lights are still on for a few mins after the engine is off and not to mention the wires....

would you say then that 16v is a tad too conservative?

Those that have re-tuned the voltage on the ivac, does a 1 to 2V increase bring on a noticeable difference?

Well, the stock voltage is 13.6v. What do you think?

thats right....ah wee seemed reluctant to tune higher, thats why I didnt pursue it. Hmm, maybe I will ask him again
