INPA/Ediabas

Anyone fiddling around with these?

Got Inpa/Edibas to run on Win 7 64 bit, able to clear fault code, do gearbox adaptations etc but can't seem to run coding functions on NCS Expert.

Noticed there wasn't a discussion thread so i started one to find interested parties so we can share tips.......

Can't run it, might be that its not compatible with win 7 64bit. The rest all run fine.

What software are you using?

Im on Inpa 5.02 and Edibas 6.4.7

Try to install in virtual machine. Resolves win 7 64 bit issues.

I used various versions of ediabas from 6.4.7 to 7.0.2 depending on coding needs

If INPA n NCS I use ediabas 7.0.2
If using DIS v57, I use ediabas 6.4.7

any significant advantages for DIS v57 vs Inpa? So far Inpa is proving sufficient to diagnose fault codes and clear them.

INPA + Ediabas is sufficient to clear fault codes, do adaptations for engine and gearbox. Its the coding part i'm now after, eg code for the air con internal circulation to be always on, digital speedo, maybe water temp display permanently on etc. Have u done that with any other program apart from NCS Expert?

Never managed to install it until I could read fault codes..... =(

BTW, would this be equivalent to Autologic in terms of reading fault codes?

Exploring installing a VM too. Only thing stopping me now is that i don't have a WinXP disk lying around. Did u have one, or does internet sourced ones work? No need for verification right?

Having seen how autologic works, I would say that autologic is much more user friendly, everything from coding to clearing fault codes is straight forward. But the price tag is insane...

However Inpa is sufficient to clear fault codes. What problem are you having with installation?

I installed dis to try to reset adaptations but failed. So it's more of play ard with that.
I used tool32 to reset adaptations as inpa cannot read my egs module.

I've coded aircon internal circulation, did Bluetooth retrofit, interior autodim mirror retrofit, folding/autodim side mirrors retrofit. Have not done the digital speedo as car still under warranty. Water temp always on not possible to code.

I would advise to download the free XP mode for win 7 and do the bmw tools installation inside this virtual machine. Once you can get inpa to work NCS should work as well.

Download xp mode. Comes with a pre activated copy of win xp

I can't as im running home premium win7. MS only allows xp mode downloads for professional, ultimate and enterprise...

just done with my xp mode and all relevant install. Finally can fiddle ard with NCS Expert! Weird thing is i can't find an option for E90 in NCS Expert. Did you have to download new daten files?

Use E89 to code E90

for MAN file coding, try to use revtor's profile as expert mode doesn't allow MAN file coding.
do a backup of the module you are planning to make changes to first by doing a read of the module and then save the TRC file somewhere safe. coding is quite safe unless your battery dies on you suddenly.

INPA may be good if you understand what you do. It is intended for engineers. I would rather use DIS, it has convenient graphic interface and won't let you make mistakes (e.g. to turn modules into sleep mode etc).
