iPod adaptor for car

Re: iPod adaptor for car

i'm still looking into it... without the support of the technical guys who know the car... and without a car to try out on... it'll take a while... :(

Re: iPod adaptor for car

I actually tried the cheapest way but failed.
Bought a cassette adaptor and insert in the cassette deck while the other end connect to yr ipod.
I only get 10% sound coming out from the left speakers..need to adjust the balance towards the left to equalise.
Cost me $29.

Still wondering whether the cassette deck is the issue...need to test in another bimmer to find out.

Re: iPod adaptor for car

i've seen someone use a cassette adaptor with a lot of success... the audio quality is fantastic.... i believe he got it for $15 at sim lim tower....

i have no further details on this myself... just a thought...

Re: iPod adaptor for car

megaclaw, the cassette adapter needs to be inserted in the "right direction" and I hope you have gotten one that you could adjust the head to align it to the cassette deck head. I had the exact same problem as you when I first started, the SQ was horrible.

I suggest you take out the cassette adapter, take a look and see if there are any directional arrow to guide you on which side of the adapter should be inserted first and if it allows you to move the head, adjust it to see if it improves your SQ.

Good luck.

Re: iPod adaptor for car

It has always been said that the cassette adaptor is not a good option because it transfer the signal by induction of the coil. I don't know what is the frequency range though. Once upon a time, another alternative is to attach a FM modulator on the antenna cable (not the FM transmitter). It's a device with a in/ out antenna socket. I heard that such a adptor is better. Did not have a chance to try it. I might have read the Revo DAB is using similar connection.

I got the Belkin cassette adapter as advertised on Apple singapore website.
http://store.apple.com/1800-MY-APPL...rziO6/1.0.0.11.1.0.6.9.3.19.0.1.0.1.1.1.1.0.3

There is only one way to insert the cassette since there is a line attached to it for connecting to yr ipod.
I also looked at the head and seems that there is no way to adjust the head.

Do you mean I should get one that can adjust the head? What is the brand and where to find it?

Thanks.

Mine is from Sony. I suggest you do not go out and buy another one, see if you could clean the cassette deck head first .. try different ways before spending more money.
