iPod use in my car - volume issue

Re: iPod use in my car - volume issue

Tx, chickenbackside. I'll see if I can 'tahan' the current set-up and if not, I'll consider a more 'comprehensive' approach. Cheers :)

bugaboo,

do you know what the original purpose of the resistor segment is for? to reduce the possibly of ground loop noise?

cheers!

on the e60 aux in, there is a resistor in the aux in cable you can remove.

do a search on google or in the usual bimmerfest or e60.net forums and you should find something.

here are some photos of the resistor segment exposed.

Re: iPod use in my car - volume issue

I am using my iPOD from the docking connector below to the AUX... The volume is the same as if from IU.

I have tried the top headset and like you said, the volume is very soft....

I got a cable that contact from the bottom of the iPOD, one to AUX and the other to the socket which does the charging... Very happy with it......

Unfortuntely, I bought the cable in Japan.... Still having seem any in Singapore...

Your cable sounds like the perfect solution, Jedi R. Can you take a snapshot of it? Also, how much did you pay for it... in Yen, that is.

ferd:
i did a search.
Improved Aux Input Sound Quality & Volume - The Unofficial BMW M5 Messageboard (m5board.com)
"
The aux input wiring harness contains (2) 220nF capacitors and a 300K-ohm resistor, which filter out low frequency and degrade sound output. Apparently, the reasons they are there is to reduce gain coming from headphone jacks (as opposed to the line out), and filter out low frequency. The second reason is the side effect of the first one."

Very nice. I'll make it my mission in life to hunt this down :)

Re: iPod use in my car - volume issue

If anyone is planning a trip to Gold Coast, plan to drop by Brisbane BMW in Fortitude Valley, not far from Brisbane airport. They have a 30 pin to AUX, and charger, similar to the above, but white, for around A$30. I bought one and the sound is far better.

Alternatively, perhaps they'd post one up if you called them. The people who run the accessories division are very helpful and friendly.

Re: iPod use in my car - volume issue

Hey bro,

There is a VOL-MIN at the display cluster (on 320iA/4 & 323iA/4 without iDrive) . You can adjust the Volume higher if you want to match your radio. But normally MP3 acoustics are poorer than CDs, therefore you need to adjust to this disparity.

But I can see this VOL-MIN button on iDrive cars leh.. Anyone can help?
