Iridium plugs

I am using the OWS Iridium IL7 0.8mm gap. I like it. But no chance to try the Denso and NKG.

yes the denso iridiums do give slight improvements. downside is that you need to change them regularly.

Can anyone please tell me if fitting iridium plugs really give a perceptable change in performance of the car?

Which is better, OWS, NKG or Denso?

If so, does anyone knows which Denso Iridium plug ( plug number ) is compatible with the 3 litre M54 engine? What's the optimal gap ?

Your views and recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there...

I was just chatting while in PML on thursday and was informed that on the newer engine management, the ECU uses the ignition coil to detect detonation instead of the knock sensor used in the current fleet of engine.

Therefore by changing the iridium spark plug, it will create false signal resulting in engine retardation, which a lot of the E60 owner are facing when they send their car back to PML though the engine might be still the same.

U might want to check if ur car still got the knock sensor (aka the conventional way) before taking the plunge. And if it still can be used, u should be getting the Denso IK20 for all M54 Engine. Not sure about other brand.

Agree, not so easily available here..That's why I had to order my platinum ones from overseas.

The problem is that even if u manage to find the NGK agent here, u tell them the part number and what they will likely tell you is u need to do bulk orders or else they wont bring em in if just for 6pieces. I went thru this before so learning from it.

My advise to u is, if u really want em, just order em online..

Cheers

Platinium plus like the one shown can be bot over the counter of PML...

"Ho-Seh liao"!!! Can consider changing to it! But is the difference only restricted to the longevity or is there any difference in performance as well?
