Is it Normal to have a wheezing sound on my F10?

Hi Folks,

I just installed an amplifier and a new set of speakers and tweeters on my F10. There are 2 x problems that I encountered. Before the installation, my F10 keyless entry works fine but now the "remote not detected" error message keeps popping up on my dash every time I open and close the door. Also, I am unable to lock/ unlock the car by holding on to the door handles. Secondly, after the installation of the amplifier and set of new speakers etc, there is a wheezing sound everytime the car accelerates and when I start the car (with the audio mute / off). I am sure this is not normal right? Are you able to shed some light as I have no clue what to do.

Cheers.

Hi kyubi,

probably installer didnt put in a capacitor to step down the wheezing sound? better go back to the installer.......best is not to touch all this....leave it stock...

* or perhaps need to re-program after installation???

not normal
before your ice shop return the car to u, normally they will test this wheezing sound, very common one, they will test by putting your car at P, then off all radio sound, then step accelarator, put their ears to the right and left tweeters separately to listen, they could have missed out this step.

You mean it's better not to upgrade the speakers or Add any amplifiers? Or are you referring to the capacitor?

Cheers.

Basically it means your installer is substandard. Wheezing sound normally when power not properly earthed. When it come car car audio system, u really have to find skilled installers.

Swift Motion is quite good but their blades also quitesharp. Try n get other installer recommendations from bros here.

The stock system in f10 really cmi, only a mid range driver, dont even have a tweeter. Best to get a good installer especially those more familiar with BMW, but their knife all very sharp. So far i resisted the urge. More value to spend it on my home system.

Mine came with logic 7. Not too bad

Re: Is it Normal to have a wheezing sound on my F10?

This is commonly called the 'Puay kee'-aerooplane sound. Usually means substandard
installation. You should go back to the installer to rectify.

Blades very sharp??? The one I went to seems to be a reputable installer
hence the reason why I went to them. Now my F10
has problems with "remote key not detected",
can't lock OR unlock my car property when I press the door handle and the whistle sound when all audio is off. The problem with my remote key, they asked me to go back to PML. It was working before the amp and speakers installed. Sigh....

Reputation is not the issue here.
Its the familiarity of the F10 that counts.
Its a new car afer all, with an Mission Impossible time bomb.
Touch this wire u explode, touch that wire car explode.

The bosses at Soundwerkz each drive a F10 and E60, see the conviction?
They are the real Tom Cruise.

P/S: u shd also make another trip down to the workshop to check, maybe just some wire lose, ICE very sensitive one. Fixed your own PC b4? Some wires lose or drop out the whole cannot work.
