Jerkiness at Slow Speed

Hi all, I just bought a 4-year old E90 two months ago. It's been driving fine so far but the past couple of days I noticed the following things:

1. When starting from stop position, the car's response to my acceleration is very slow. And when it does speed up, it speeds up suddenly.

2. When moving at a very slow speed (less than 15 km/hr), it starts jerking. I don't know if its really jerking. I would describe as more of a choking feel.

I've read some of the threads about jerking but usually people talk about it happening when stopping, which my car don't really suffer from.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

lolx, TS is on E90 not F10; dont think have keller onboard if Im guessing correctly what you meant.

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

send it to workshop for a thorough check ... that's the best option for you
too many variables and possible wear&tear parts ... it's not safe to speculate and assume what are the potential causes

im sure any site sponsor workshop would be able to diagnose it from you.
I would guess that the cause to be
1) ignition coil
2) spark plug
3) air filter chocked
4) valvetronic motor time's up

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

I also have this problem, send to site sponsor but not solve yet. N the problem is not always there. Kind of like on n off.

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

Do you let your car warm up at start?

I use to experience your symptoms and after I began allowing the engine to warn up, it went away.

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

When the issue first started, I did think about the engine not being sufficiently warmed up even though I do, at least 5 min each time. But I think there's something else. Might be as suggested above, a spark plug or air filter issue (I had similar problems before when I was riding).

I've arranged a visit to the workshop. Seeing that there are others who experience the same issue, I'll share what I learn soon so that hopefully, we can all resolve this.

Had similar problem recently & diagnoised as 2 nos. ignition coil kaput..

Good luck.

Sounds familiar! Once, I didn't even warm up the car and when I stepped on the gas after the light turned green the car didn't move for a full second. Usually ok if I warm up the car. Nowadays I pump Vpower and there's no issue at all. If there is really a problem it should be fuel/engine temperature related. Let us know what you find!

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

Had similar problem as you've described. Went to a few ws and had various parts replaced (spark plug, ignition coils, reprogrammed transmission & oil changed etc.) but problem did not go away. At the end, changed the transmission mechatronic assy and that solved my issue.

Cheers.

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

Is changing the tarnsmission mechatronics assembly the same as overhauling the gearbox? tks for advice

mechatronic = solenoids + valves ...including flush atf, filter and oil pan ... more or less gearbox overhaul

Re: Jerkiness at Slow Speed

Was told by the ws guy that it's sort of a half overhaul. Full overhaul would require the removal of the entire transmission and include replacing all the gasket seals and the transmission friction plates etc as well.
