Jerking every 2 seconds during constant speed and rpm

Hi All,

I'm currently driving a E60 '05 520. When travelling on a flat road at constant speed of 80km/hr or less, holding the rpm constantly from the range of 1500-1800 while depressing and holding the accelerator lightly, i can feel the car jerking (hesistation or something pulling the car) every 2-3 seconds. I either have to let my foot off the accelerator or depress the accelerator more and the jerk will be gone. It usually happens at 5th gear.

Has any bros encounter this problem before? Whats the resolution?

your car uses M54 engine check the throttle body or the vaccum control; refer to realoem.com to understadn what I am talking about. It could also be one of the ignition coils which is causing the engine to misfire. A simple diagnotic will show if this is the problem.

My car also jerks. It jerks when I adjust my underwear. End of OT.

your car uses M54 engine check the throttle body or the vaccum control; ....

My 2008 525 also uses M54, I think. No jerk, but sometimes, on cold start in morning, there's a irritating clicking sound coming from the top left side of engine. I thought was taper misalignment but PML did full thorough computer analysis and say all ok.

Car was in PML 5 times already, in the last 4 weeks.

Tuesday, collected car at 6pm and SA told me they have checked it and the car is perfectly perfect. I started the car, and the noise was louder than ever. Called him over to listen and he almost fained.

Next week going in again, and this time, they ask me to leave it there for a few days.

Trying to trouble-shoot thoroughly before warranty expires next month.

I used to have Jerk before stop. But after doing EGS Adaption reset, the jerk before stop is gone (actually not really gone, sometimes can feel very mild jerk while the car is stopped). Further, 3 weeks back, encounter a transmission fault. Forgotten the fault code and description but it is something like.."monitor-pressure for 5th to 6th gear change".

I read from another forum, some do encounter the same problem i had and they had the mechatronics (valve body) replaced and problem solved.

Well my is a slight jerk as I come to a stop. The mechantronics replacement never resolved the problem for ''me''. So I decided to live with it unfortunately......

are you refer to the 7 solonoid valve in the gear box?

Yup, if i'm not wrong, the mechatronics consist of the solenoids.

Pleae get your fuel filter replace. sometime simple things like this will gv jeckiness to your car.

Thks for your advise. In actual fact, Fuel Filter had been replaced two months ago and doesn't resolved the issue. Spark Plugs was replaced too.

When the jerk occurs during constant speed and rpm, the rpm holds steady and never show signs of dropping.

Sounds like a similar problem my friend had on his dad's E60. Got it fixed at Khang's Auto for 2.8k - Overhaul transmission (v/body and electronic component)

Thanks, sounds to me the likelihood of the cause is the valve body.
