Guys,

Is it legal to carry diesel in jerry cans in the back of the car, and for the matter, cross the causeway? Reason having to do so is malaysia diesels are only euro II currently

Wondering how diesel owners attempt to increase their range across the border?

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

Jerrycans full of combustible fuel in a car? Very dangerous to the persons in the car and everyone else on the road.

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

Actually diesel is not very combustible that's why there are diesel dispensing kiosk outside some industrial car park ( one outside jalan lam sam )

Traffic jam + pedal-to-metal will be worse than factory urban consumption?

In MYCARFORUM, some jaguar drivers claims return trip to Penang le. That's very close to factory highway consumption.

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

jerrycans diesel to msia probably see how happy the officer when he see it
jerrycans diesel/petrol to spore definitely cannot ... double confirmed

having said that better double check the "illegal" substance that can bring in/out of the country. don't end up at JB police station stripped down squatting ...

Will end up drinking fish tank water? Or highway speed chasing after failed $500sgd bribery?

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

No point carrying the diesel along. Very troublesome with the law. As most said, yon should be able to make it there and back and still spare.

This was a problem I was struggling with when considering a diesel car.

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

He probably will be transporting at less than the exempted quantity which means it does not apply. Definitely not at volumetric tonne level which is what concerns the Hazmat / Scdf guys e.g esso petrol delivery tanker lorry.

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

thanks all the input, guess its indeed illegal which is a bummer

I do not have a diesel vehicle now, but I do really like the Land Rover Discovery. Looks like a prefect road trip SUV... can do onroad, offroad, dry road and wet roads when my little one is ready for her first overseas trip.

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

buy diesel car forget about venturing long road trip in msia
wait for many more years until msia roll out euro v diesel ...
in a nutshell, wait long long

Re: Jerrycans and diesel

Not illegal if you are within the exemption limits -

• Petroleum
Less than 130 kg (gross weight) in not more than 2 cylinders;
Less than 20 litres of Class I petroleum; or
Less than 200 litres of Class II and Class III petroleum.

200 liters of diesel (class III) more than enough to goto MY.
