It all depends bro.....the 335 will be much faster than the BoxsterS.....

But the difference is Coupe vs Cabrio....BMW vs Porsche.....

Let me know if you want a few months old BoxsterS yah!

1) Will you regret not getting an S? My answer to that is `only if you spend a LOT of time on the track'. In the words of Ben Oliver of Car magazine in a recent Porsche 60-year old birthday roundup of the funnest car Porsche makes now, he wrote: `the standard Cayman's 2.7 has all the pace you need. More power is seldom a bad thing, but it's much more satisfying to stretch an engine than constrain it' Not exactly the Boxster but pretty darn close, and again, the Box and the Cayman are pretty similar unless you really wring them out to the limit on track.

2) The 335 is an utterly different car, it's prodigious power and less hectic chassis and suspension make it far more comfortable, trading fun and involvement for a sophisticated blend of comfort and performance. If you're out for an automatic transmission Boxster, you'd probably be closer to consider the 335 and you'd probably find the 335 beats the boxster at every count, S or no S.

Re: July 2005 Boxster S Cost ???

Boxster S

- mid engine so can carry more speed thru the corners
- better steering feel as front end is fairly light
- raw and boisterious flat six engine esp when coupled with the oem sports exhaust
- tighter chassis
- lighter weight and better brakes

335 coupe

- smooth inline six engine
- tremendous torque
- more practical (rear seats)
- more refinement, less cabin noise
- turbo boost can be addictive
- cheaper to mod in terms of bhp/$
- the modding possibilities are endless!!!!

Centurion and I differ with regards to the S vs no S debate, cos $$$ permitting i'd rather stretch a bigger engine than a smaller one. Also my own personal opinion is that torquer engine of the S is just about right for negotiating town traffic in sg (with or without the tiptronic). You should have no problems winding up and stretching the 3.4L or 3.2L engine even in town. The key is getting pole position at the lights :)

yes this is an endless debate and the resolution of most people is towards `torque'.

But if you are the small number of people who like to shift up and down, blip the engine, blip blip for double declutch downshift, the more shift the better, you should go for the 2.7. If you wanna brrraaaaaap more of the time, WOT for longer, go for the 2.7, because 3.4 you'd hit the illegal limit pretty quick. But if you want and endless flow of power from every RPM get the bigger engine.

Re: July 2005 Boxster S Cost ???

To bros wilman2772, centurion, Remus325..thx 4 ur replies..very solid analysis..i prefer 335 for the power + mod, my CFO prefers boxster..hahaha...hopefully i can win soon..dragging too long over this tough decision..:juggle:

Re: July 2005 Boxster S Cost ???

I find the S to be still somewhat lacking in power. So I will definitely go for the S. Resale is also much better. BMW and Porsche? I think the choice is easy :)

Re: July 2005 Boxster S Cost ???

To cover all the bases, think you need to take your CFO and go check out the Audi S5.

4.2 litre, 350 bhp. All for $245k

I was pretty surprised at the price

Re: July 2005 Boxster S Cost ???

Good news.. I won! final decision is a 335 coupe..i saw a nice new AW 335 coupe and paid the downpayment..now wait for delivery which is end aug..went to audi showroom to view S5..solid car with great quality built but somehow my mind is on 335 so didn't test drive S5..haha.. :)
