punctured filter? it doesn't make sense to me... well, odd things do happen some times. I only heard of birds getting sucked into the intake system and ended up, in pieces, at the filter.

That's worse. Reminds me of the old days when we'd stick a fish in somebody's hubcabs. The car stinks and the owner would wash it but still can't get rid of the smell.

noticed the rubber seal and plastic holding of my K&N filter is slipping apart after 40k km. panel design seems to last longer than cones.

Worried that my K&N cone filter will slip or crack, I got it cleaned the other day and must say it is a good thing I did. Though filter is ok (not slipped from holder or cracked), it was bloody dirty.

A few days prior to the cleaning, I felt the car's rpm appear unstable; drops then up again repeatedly. After cleaning, felt much better and smoother.

My advice. Clean them at least once every 6 months.

My has the same problem . The rubber rim give way. Went back to the distributor and was told tt warranty does not cover this . Has to pay to buy a new one !

my other complain about K&N is the smoothness of drive is not as good as stock. unless it's highway driving else stop and go stock has a nicer/smoother ride. anyway experienced this?

it will improve your performance slightly with a K&N filter

i believe there is a US website that did a test on stock / knn and other filters for passing dust. AS expected the stock filters came out much cleaner vs. knn and other oil coated filters. if you do a search I am sure you will find these results.

So far what I find and use before K&N is not bad the only thing is to clear the filter only.

hurricane filter also not bad, easy to clear but the problem is on the filtration side is not as good as K&N
both I had use before still like K&N

Fitted drop in K&N to my 130i. Definite improvement in response. Feels like it should dyno a few horses more.
