Thanks! My 318i really need a boost from laggy start (me coming over from a light jap car) . Lighter rims is also on the wish list , so is upgrading the ICE . So many wishes, so little $$$ .... :juggle:

i c itg quite special, but no have for my car, k & n cotton gaze nothing special many brands have, then hurricane many horror storey fm otherforum about poor filterin

All aftermarket filters need to clean after some time. there isn't a specific Hurricane AF for the 325i. Hence, till now, we still use K&N for the 6cylinders.

either k&n or hurricane, you should change the filter to a new set after 30k of usage

if not the filter start to crumble, creating small holes and break eventually

Was the Hurricane cleaned at every 10,000km?

at 10k, condition is good
at 20k, condition is good
at 30k, condition is so so but no sign of breaking ... (i was planning to replace it in the next servicing)
at 40k, the filter start to crumble, creating little holes and develop signs of breaking

now i have determined to change a new filter every 30k or lesser which is close to 2 years of usage and it's not expensive

This is rather unusual. I have clocked about 70,000km on my old ride and nothing of that sort happened. Hmmm...

The situation you described does happen to filters that are not cleaned regularly and collected so much dirt that it collapsed.
