my problem is that the mirror will tilt so low that i can't see behind while parking. this is unlike the merc where you can see both behind as well as the curb. similar probs?

You can adjust the angle of the mirror to a setting in which you are comfortable with. This function should not be hindering you from doing a proper reverse parking. :shakehea:

But I don't think you can adjust the mirror with the joystick-like buton when you are in the Reverse gear. Can you ???

trogen,

Trogen, you're supposed to adjust the mirror before you do your reserve parking.

Teckie,
hi SL2, how do you adjust the mirror to your liking? I can't seem to do so

When you switch the button towards the passenger seat, you should be able to adjust the angle of the mirror. After that, the angle should be stored in the memory once you turn off the ignition key. :)

when I push the switch to passenger side and then put to reververse gear. The side mirror tilts upwards. :errr: That's very strange and it still happen today. I hope it's not due to my memory setting error. :(

I called up the BMW emergency service centre yesterday and describe to them about the problem . The customer services over the phone was quite forthcoming although they can't do anything on the phone. They even suggested sending out the mobile team to my home to check on the side mirror. I was pleasntly surprised :| because I thought it was only a very small problem. Since the car can still be driven, I thought they could have instead requested me to send it to the service centre. I was told the mobile team svc was free of charge, but who knows I could be given a bill for the miscellaneous. I declined their offer to send the mobile team. Afterall, PML service is notoriously exorbitant and I do not want take any risk for it unless it's truly necessary. :screwedu:

Anyone has the experience on the above. Keep your views coming in and I hope to hear from you guys.

if your car is under warrenty, factory faults shouldnt bear you any charges. your mirror is spoilt liao, just bring it in to fix it. mobile svs most probably cannot do anything about it, its not like you have a flat or dead battery.

for the rest who hasnt set the reverse tilt correctly, RTFM. ;)

:Today, I brought my car into PML service centre to check on the problem and the result is nothing wrong with the car's mirror !!. :furious: The technician said that it is the new feature (for those bought after 3/2004), regretably it wasn't fully explained in the handbook. When the switch is at the passenger-side, you can customise the angle of the Kerb-view. This however does NOT apply when it's on the right. He still have the cheek to tell me that many driver's brought in their car for the same "problem" and they explained the "discrepancy" to each one who brought them in. This possibly tells why the svc centre is always so busy and why their labour cost is always so expensive !!

The technician spent 30 mins to go thru' the feature with me. :) Since it's under warranty, it's therefore free of charge. :) Neverhteless, I could have spent the morning doing other better things instead. :screwedu:
