Hi guys.
Today was LED fever day at BVO. Three E46's and one E60 had LED tail lights installed today. I was one of them who caught the fever.
Anyway, here's my personal journey.
*Please forgive the state of my car. It hasn't been washed since the seafood drive*
Dismantling left side
Fitting left side on
One on for comparison
On to the right side
Everybody's favourite mechanic with his million dollar smile
Both sides are on
I find that the white part of the trunk lights don't flow very well with the prefacelift look, so I decided to get Angie to try and spray the white border red to try to match the tail lights.
Masking up the section where the reverse light should come through
The very nice foreman at Yew Lip mixing a few combinations to match as closely as possible
Spray it on
Comparison between sprayed and unsprayed trunk lights
The trunk lights appear more yellow than the LED lights, so Shaaz being very knowleagable about anything to do with red tinted lights had the perfect solution. Wrap it in red cellophane sticker!
And it's done! Not perfect, but nevermind. It's experimental...
Final step of the day, a scene no doubt many people will be familiar with
Guess which E60 got his LED's too? No prizes though...
Chickenbackside out...
