Where are you planning to tap the power from ?

If tap from certain power source then no errors will come out.

Why not an independent switch ?

you probably will want to pair up your desired led strip with a resistor of 5ohms value to prevent the canbus error from popping out. Make sure your resistor is cooled properly. i DIYed mine with copper heatsinks to make sure it didn't melt. Do take note that you will negate all led power savings with a resistor.
