Light Bulbs Warranty?

Just out of curosity... i know light bulbs are not part of any car warranty. But nowadays, cars don't use normal $1 light bulbs. for example, rear lights of my E60 LCI uses CCFL (don't know what it is). Will this CCFL fail? Will it be covered by PML warranty? Or third party warranty like Khang Motors?

Re: Light Bulbs Warranty?

Bulbs are usually consumable items but if this occurs during warranty, PML can choose to replace them FOC, just like wiper blades. I don't think they are bound by contract to replace them.

Re: Light Bulbs Warranty?

Even if PML replaces your bulbs FOC out of goodwill, it may still charge you for labour (based on experience, the labour charge is usually more costly than the parts itself). So it may be better off that you replace in our sponsored workshops and you still can choose the temperature colour you prefer.

Re: Light Bulbs Warranty?

No lar. I am not referring to normal light bulbs leh. I am referring to those rear lamp sets used in newer models... what they called CCFL format. They are not light bulbs. Probably whole set to replace.

This lighting set... is it covered in warranty? What's inside? Not a light bulb right?

Mine was found to be faulty (not lighted up) by PML and replaced FOC...they said it wasn't "blown", but "faulty"...oh well whatever LOL8).

I don't think it is CCFL. If i am not wrong, it is LED. Anyway, it is meant to last. Touch wood. My E39 is coming to 8 yrs and it is still running well.

ya correct, its LED. LEDs are known to have a super long lifespan.. so much better than halogen ones..

Re: Light Bulbs Warranty?

1 of my rear lamp finally gave way after close to 8 yrs. The LED is still working. But power socket of the lamp gave way.

Re: Light Bulbs Warranty?

Happened on my E90 today as well. Went to PML and was told it was not light bulb that blow. It is actually the whole signal lamp assy (resistor) that may be faulty that need replacement. Within warranty period FOC replacement.
