Lock issue

Hi guys! Just bought a 2009 120i coupe last week. New to BMW so pls bear with me if my questions seem amateur

Anyone has any problems with the lock system? My passenger side door cannot be unlocked using the key. It can only be opened from the inside.

And is it normal to have a "double lock"? From the inside, my passenger has to pull on the handle 2 times to open the door - 1 to unlock and 1 more time to open the door. I pressed the unlock button but it does not unlock my passenger door... only unlock the Driver's door

not sure about ur model so this may not be the case

if got idrive check your setting under vehicle or door lock or something cant remember at the moment
there should be a setting to determine if pressing the unlock button on the remote to open all doors or just the driver door only.
this is useful if u go malaysia alone so no robber can get into ur passenger side door.

pull 1 time to unlock another time to open is a feature on older model again i not sure on ur model

If no iDrive, then prob is default sequence.
my current config (E60) is:
If door is locked, need to pull 2 times. 1st to unlock, 2nd to open door. I think its a safety feature. Most Jap car dont have
If push button once, Driver side unlock. if push again, all remaining 3 will unlock (settings from iDrive)

If push button >2 times and non-driver door still locked, lock mechanism spoil!
