The E46 valvetronic should be N42B20.

Believe the N46B20 is a later variant, found on the E90s.

As long as the E46 gearbox has been well maintained...
Auto can be very smooth 5 speeder...

Mine very smooth.
Thanks to Rod who practically emptied out the entire 'box.
And refreshed all the ATF.

If you want taxi ride.

bro, have you seen e46 for the link you provided? headed down to take a look alrdy.. seems like there's a sound from the pulley.. not sure izzit the water pump or crank shaft.. and idling seems very unstable... if not, i'd be damn interested....

True. I tested too. It doesn't seems as smooth as it "should" be... But if all this can be fix within my budget, its still buyable...
