Lowering E46

"how come the quote for KW Var 1 more expensive at 2550?"

That's a ripped off price. One of our bros here was quoted for much much less than that but in the end didnt go for it coz cudnt clear the the rims on his ride....

Bilstein is great dude..Many major tuners's suspension kits are Bilstein OEM fyi.

No one considered Sachs kit?
I think they are sporty yet comfortable at the same time but they don't lower a lot. My car's M suspension is made by Sachs.

Yeah but Sachs does not generally last long.

All BMW cars stock suspensions are made by Sachs anyway including the M series.

Bilstein so famous U never hear b4 ah? Hmmnnn...

http://www.bilstein.com/flash/shocked.htm

Bilstein PSS coilovers are like KW V1s, only height adjustable.....but KW V1 have certain rims clearance problem.....only certain rims with certain offset can fit..

Bilstein PSS9 are like KW V2, both height & damping adjustable & they're more 'EX'...

Bilstein PSS is S$2185 inclusive of airfreight, insurance & 5% GST. All Bilstein PSS & PSS9 coilover kits comes with lifetime waranty!

wow you the man, but when you say they are like KW Variant 2, how come the quote for KW Var 1 more expensive at 2550? If i order this, who to go to for installation?

owe you one, kopi and prata kosong on me next round!

Eh, maybe my england not so good.....paiseh....

PSS9 is like KW Var2, both are height & damping adjustable but they're cost alot more dan PSS & Var1

Installation is done at BVO (Sin Ming).

Cheers!

hi all, from my last enquiry to Eurowerks, local dealer of KW, the variant 2 including installation at Autospritzer is $2400.

correction, there was a miscommunication.... it should be Variant 1 for $2400. Variant 2 is about $2800. yesterday then i realised.

that sounds more right....since KW has fitment problems with the E46s and they don't have stock for the Var 2s...PSS9s are the obvious, immediate choice...

yes those wishing to install KWs pls make sure they are able to clear your rims. other than that, KWs are really competent coilovers for enthusiasts. those who have driven my car hard on the track before will know.

yeah shawn, KWs rock...had them for more than a year and so far only changed dampers once.

very comfortable yet firm, anyone who has driven my car on track can attest to that too...

we the KW ppl....

Dream Driver (Kok Khuan) just installed the Bilstein PSS for his E46 320i pre-FL on Monday, he's now running in the coilovers & will post a review on them soon!

I've test drove his car after the PSS, 1st impression is, the car rides firm, corners well w/o much body roll & it's still comfortable on uneven road sufaces

I ask him to set the ride height to 1 finger gap for the rear & 1.5 finger gap for the front.

His wife & kid always sits behind, so the car will look fabulous with no finger gap in the rear!!

More queries on this thread. Just changed from 17" to 18". The car looks damn wierd witht the stock ride height.

Sach Performance Set. I think they cost over a grand. since they come in a set, they are a good match between spring and damping rates. Bad point is that Sach shocks have a terrible lifespan. They die off at pretty low mileage and you have to replace them.

What would you consider 'low mileage'? Just trying to factor the cost considerations between Sachs vs PSS.

It was also mentioned PSS have lifetime warrantly. But I guess its only in USA only. Approximately how long will PSS shocks/springs last (assuming normal driving in SGP)?

you're probably looking at 80-100k kms till ur dampers wear out, and it'll cost about 200-350 per damper to replace i was told.

my KWs dampers are worn after 50k only...that's cos i tend to enjoy 'spirited driving' more often than normal.
