hello, i was reading around what do you guys recommend? i heard gruppe M is louder and more expensive but Afe gives more power anyone know? currently i have a K&N drop in air filter

I think GruppeM can't be possibly louder than AFE coz the former is enclosed vs open pod of the latter one.

In looks dept....GruppeM wins : hands down.
Well that is because you are paying for the CF Kevlar while the inner filter is still normal cone shape.

AFE, I heard many good things a bout it. I think it's great. It's a better design of the cone vs K&N 63 or 69. U have to ensure that you do a proper heatshield around the cone filter else your car is sucking hot air => lose power instead.

I'd choose AFE anytime over GruppeM for the price.

I am on stock airbox with K&N drop-in filter and loving it

hmm i really cant decide, i dont care about the noise i just want one which gives me more bhp i'm also using K&N drop in filter. my car is fine its running well

From what I gathered in US M3 Forum.
AFE is people's favourite.

Had the K&N 69 before aka Typhoon for 6mths, then sold it.
Now, can't put any open pod filter coz of my vented bonnet. Anyway, I dont wish to do CAI anymore.

you took it off just because of your bonnet or because it was bad? how was the filter?? can feel the increase in power?

K&N Typhoon was very good in high revs, ie 3k rpm onwards. Tested on the track and was real fun. It roared !!
Low end torque, however, is lost due to our hot weather and imperfect heatshield.
For the price of brand new US 250, I simply couldnt resist not trying.

can i know why you cant have open pod with your vented bonnet?

Coz water will sip in and I dont want to run the risk of causing the cone filter wet. U dont want any water droplets getting sucked into the intake, it will blow your engine.

I did ask for the quote from one of the distributors in the states, but the shipping cost is just as much as the CAI itself.
