M3 fuel consumption...

Aw damn I got found out. Was really trying to save $40 off my monthly fuel tab. I hear if you pull 2 sparkplugs you can save more. :lol2: If the lambo has 7.8km/l, I'm definitely getting that to keep my fuel costs down! I think I can breakeven on the higher price in... 25 years? :chinese:

Glad to see at least from the limited datapoints so far mine is not too far off, thanks for that. On a serious note, yes I do feel the torque is perceptibly less than the S5, do need to rev it higher for the same buttfeel acceleration from stationary. Sorry for the noob questions, this is only my first year of car ownership.

Audi or BMW more driveable in terms of steering feel? I thot Audi felt lighter....

Everything u are experiencing is perfectly normal. I get 5.x L/km and I am ok with it. I do mostly city driving, so definitely gonna take a hit, FC wise. The need to rev the car should be considered a plus point. However, it can get tiring if u do it all day in the city. Enjoy the car while u can. It's the last of its kind...

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

The S5 feels more nose-heavy for me. Both were on "normal" steering mode, hopefully that was a fair comparison.

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

Thanks! It's been a good ride so far. The sedan is perfect for my near-term needs, and the V8 NA is increasingly hard to find (at an affordable price bracket). I think I'll keep this car for long time.

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

I get 7.3km/l for my M5 and 7.7km/L for my 997 Turbo. I usually commute early in the morning and late after work. I also dont pay ERP..... hahaha

That's very good for a 4L NA engine, you are not driving your M3 hard enough. My M3 friends get about 4-5.5km/l.

1 litre 7.8 for combine driving.

Something wrong with your car, you should give it away.

Assume you save $100 per month, your breakeven point will be MANY more years than 25.

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

You guys are right, I don't drive it hard enough. Come to think of it I haven't put it in the M mode (almost at all I think)

I usually take a brief note of the FC when I top up fuel, don't look at the car computer at all.

@totoseow, sorry I meant it as a joke (obviously a bad attempt).

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

Hi all,

I have been driving a e92 m3 for about a year and my fc on nsh is only 6km/l. Can go lower to 5km/l on nsh. Sounds horrible for some and that's without M mode. And fc in the carpark coming out also scary. Its only 2.5km/l. And, mine is a stock car aside from painted wheels.

Honest fact is, the car is made as such (to drink), so don't need to fret whether its right fc or not. The only fc efficient car is a lotus, afaik. And, its a fact that "fc" and "M" can't be used in the same sentence and they are mutually exclusive too. Though Clarkson once said that Prius drinks more than a M3.....

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

Something wrong with my car during my recent NSHWY trip. I traveled within legal speed limits with RPM below 2K most of the time. Average FC during that trip was 12km/ltr. :verysad:

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

No end to this, so let's say FC for M3 is 4-10kms per L range, however you want to drive it..

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

I drive on power mode, mainly city driving and getting 5.8km/litre on the car computer but actual FC is closer to 5 km/litre as the car computer not accurate one.

Exactly! It's senseless to compare FC, too many variables

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

Even it's on M mode, it's also around 5+km/l. I've clocked 51k km on 2yrs+ of driving it.. FC has been very consistent. Normal mode around 6km/l unless a lot of highway then closer to 7km/l.

no offense taken. this forum is a joke afterall.....haha. okok. u r in range like everyone says....but personally I think it sux for a M3 to give such mileage when a 5.2litre engine like mine gives me 7.8 with your kind of driving. if I go mad it drops to about 5km/litre. when I do highway driving topping out at 110kmh from NUH to change airport I get 1litre/10km!

Re: M3 fuel consumption...

kekekeke...My m3 Fc is damn bad also, 220-230kms for 1 full tank.. 90% city 10% highways

I think lambo's aerodynamics is better than a lot of cars.... the wind glides over the entire car with ease and you enjoy such good FC.

that said.... what brand petrol and which ron do you pump? do you use nitrogen in your tires?

where is the best car wash around bukit timah / holland area?

If I may add, weight of car is relevant too. Anything below 1.4tonne is a bonus.
