At the back of the video.... These 2 cars are driven by the same driver on the same track and clocked the same timing. Can top gear be trusted?

I dunno but seems to me highly impossible..........

Re: M3 is only as good as RX8 on track?

err... it is the E46 M3 vs the RX8. The Renesis means lesser gear changes, plus the top gear track is twisty... so the RX8 does better around the twisties due to the track having been dry in that test. during dry that car grips...

i had one... drove around a simple roundabout at 70mph!

Re: M3 is only as good as RX8 on track?

i don't think it's very accurate. m3 is more of a distance top speed car while the rx8 is more a pick up and track racing car. in my opinion i guess. haha

again - a bit of a badge whore mentality showing through here. why is it that the M3 which is a BMW HAS to be worse than a mazda... ??

how about this race? in this case the m3 overtook the rx8. Think maybe the top gear track abit short?

The TG track does not have a lot of straights for the M54 to shine. Extrapolate it to the extreme, and I'm sure a MCS will trounce an Enzo on a go-kart track... :)

Maybe cos the M3 has almost 50% more hp/tq (343 vs 238hp; 259 vs 159lb-ft) than the RX8? Which is why the TG timings may appear puzzling to some.

Actually...

It really depends on the driver some times.

Like i always say...
Its not the rider, its the rider.

Re: M3 is only as good as RX8 on track?

Doesn't TG derive all their timings from the Stig?
