SINGAPORE - A 25-year-old man has been jailed eight weeks for paid sex with an underage Vietnamese girl.
Justin Guo Zhijia, a car sales consultant, admitted to paying $100 for the 16-year-old girl's sexual services at his Lentor Grove home in Yio Chu Kang in July last year.
According to The Straits Times, Guo met the victim at a karaoke pub where she was working as a hostess.
She had sat with Guo during the KTV session. He asked her to follow him to his house for sexual service as the session was about to end.
The defence told the court that Guo was approached by a third party to engage the victim for sex for $100.
His lawyer Sunil Sudheesan said he accepted the proposal and unwittingly engaged in commercial sex with a minor.
Investigations revealed that he did ask the victim for her age. She said she was 20 years old.
However, he did not check whether this was true.
A second similar charge was considered during his sentencing.
Guo could have been jailed up to seven years and/or fined for the offence. He is currently studying for a degree
