manu fan since 1986

1986 was the year Norman Whiteside scored a curler from outside the box to clinch the FA Cup from Everton.

Still love that Man Utd team. Gary Bailey, Paul McGrath, Kevin Moran, Gordon Strachan, Bryan Robson, Jesper Olsen, Norman Whiteside, Frank Stapleton, Mark Hughes......
wow u actually can remember all those guys...i barely can recall..too long ago liao..

i supported them cos they were not the top teams then...all my frens were liverpool, everton, arsenal fans...so boring...

well, best team for me was the 1994-96 team...cantona, kanchelskis, hughs, bruce, pallister, schmeichel....those were cool times...

Yes yes...I agree that they were a damn exciting team to watch then. Kanchelski and giggs tearing down the wings....Hughs and McClair strikers...any rebound come there is Ohh Ahhh Cantona !!

Pallister and Bruce was not a eye catching combi...but they provide a good shield in front of the IMHO...best player of United in the last 10yrs and have yet to be replaced Peter Schmeichel....Best buy...best goal keeper. The way he F his defender is a sight to behold.

The current crop of Man U player...what is missing I find is the never say die attitude. Back in 1999/2000...no matter how big the moutain is...(remember pple say Man U heading for trouble instead of Treble) like Inter Milan and Juventus...also they overcome.

Now that spirit is missing...IMHO.
But still...WRITE THE RED DEVILS OFF AT YOUR OWN PERLIS !!

FERGUSON ACCEPTS LOSS OF VAN NISTELROOY by Simon Stone, PA Sport

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted the club had little option other than to accept a three-game suspension for Ruud van Nistelrooy following his woeful challenge on Ashley Cole at Old Trafford on Sunday. The prolific Dutch striker admitted his guilt earlier in the day and began his three-game suspension within hours, although he would have certainly missed United's 3-0 Carling Cup victory over Crewe at Gresty Road tonight anyway.

Van Nistelrooy will also sit out Saturday's Premiership trip to Portsmouth, as well as the November 7 encounter with Manchester City. "It was really straightforward,'' said Ferguson. "There was no way of mitigating the three games. The FA obviously had their view and there was not a lot of chance of changing that decision. "Ruud himself felt the tackle was a bit high. It is unfortunate because he's not that type of player.''

At least in Alan Smith Ferguson has a replacement who is in form. The former Leeds striker took his tally for the season to seven with another impressive finish to put United on the road to the last 16.

Smith finished neatly after being set up by Louis Saha and though Crewe battled gamely for much of the game, two goals in as many minutes, the first from Liam Miller after a brilliant David Bellion through ball, the second a Stephen Foster own goal after Bellion had failed to control a Saha cross, finished the home side off.

"The confidence is building now,'' said Ferguson, whose side has still only lost one game this season despite some poor form. "Winning games lifts you. There is no question about that. Nobody is unbreakable and things are going along the right lines.'' Crewe boss Dario Gradi, the longest serving manager in England with 22 years at the helm compared to Ferguson's 18, admitted he felt Smith was man of the match. And, when he surveyed a visitors starting line up containing 35 million pounds worth of talent and nine senior internationals he felt his team might be in trouble.

"I do not think we were disgraced,'' he said. "We made their keeper work as hard as ours. Alan Smith was the outstanding player on the pitch. He caused us all sorts of problems. It appears Sir Alex got his team selection just right.'' Aside from Smith's display and the chance of introducing youngsters Gerrard Pique and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake for their senior debuts in the second half, Ferguson will also have been delighted by the return of Tim Howard after missing six games following his high profile Champions League blunder against Lyon.

The American produced a series of impressive stops to deny Crewe's lively strike-force of Steve Jones and Dean Ashton and though Roy Carroll's stint in the United goal looked set to continue for a while yet, Howard's rehabilitation is clearly almost complete.

Long Live Man United!! 4 titles this season??

Well...I think Alex also smart to accept the punishment for Rudd...anyway he also far from his best...so some extra rest would be good for him...since now he got 3 fit strikers to choose. There is Rooney...Smith and Saha.

Now everyday see newspaper also can see Angry Wenger....dunno cow peh for what...his own player dive (worst still...pple siam him but he go kick pple leg also got penalty). This wan is call...not no karma..not yet only. Now I wonder why Sol Cambel making so much noise for F!! He did stretch out a leg...what he expect Rooney to do...stop for payment before he lift his legs off for entry ?? What the hell was he thinking about...Winston Parking ?? :screwedu:

To go on a remarkable run like their is indeed a fairy tail...but once it ends only...blame the whole wide world but yourself ?? I think the next match they will draw and draw again....maybe lose ? Spurs would love to rub salt into their wounds now.

Ya, 4 titles in the bag would be a nice way to end the season. 8) I think that's the best way to shut ARSEne Wenger and ARSEnal up!

Yes yes...let ArseANAL go on their fantastic unbeaten run again...that is...go unbeaten also win nothing run...then at the end of the season...Arse Wenger will say that the whole EPL is againt him...blah blah blah...

Frankly I hate Henry...not that I am jealous of him or what...but the way he bugs the opp goalkeeper...I really hate that.

If I am the goalie...I will sure look for a chance to put him out one.

CUP IS PERFECT STAGE FOR FERGIE'S YOUTH CLUB By Ken Gaunt, PA Sport

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes the Carling Cup is the perfect competition to test the character of his rising young stars. Considering the fractious nature of the club's relationship with Arsenal there is little doubt their mental strength will be stretched to the full tomorrow when the teams meet in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

It is the first time Ferguson and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger have faced each other since October 24 in a Barclays Premiership match which was riddled with bad blood and accusations. There was talk that Arsenal players had thrown pizza and soup at Ferguson after his team ended Arsenal's 49-match unbeaten league run.

Given the average age of both sides in the Carling Cup, lemonade and ice cream is more likely to be on the menu this time around. Of the side that defeated West Brom at the weekend, only Wes Brown is expected to remain in the United starting line-up against Arsenal.
Ferguson expects his team to rise to the challenge. "You always learn about your young players in the Carling Cup,'' he said.

"It is the area where we try to test them. We test their character, we test their temperament, we test their ability to play at the top level. It is great for all young players here. Of course the game will be competitive. It is the quarter-finals of the League Cup, so you can expect a competitive game. It doesn't matter who you play against. We have a chance to get into the semi-final and everyone wants to get there. Whoever wins tomorrow has a great chance of getting to the final.''

Ferguson will stick with the squad that defeated Crystal Palace in the last round, bar the injured Louis Saha, and give a rest to the majority of his senior players ahead of the league match against Southampton. He could give starts to promising youngsters Giuseppe Rossi and Chris Eagles. Rossi, 17, has impressed at junior and reserve-team level since his arrival from Parma in the summer and might partner Alan Smith in attack. Ferguson said: "I am very pleased with the standard of youngsters who are coming through at the moment. I think we have a really good bunch who have the right credentials. I believe, for instance, that the youth team will do very well this season. We have seven or eight at that level who are looking really good.''

Arsenal are also tapping into a rich vein of talent after scouring Europe, like United, for the best young boys. They proved their quality in the competition by knocking out strong Everton and Manchester City sides. Ferguson said: "I think he (Wenger) will keep to his promise to play young players. I only know one or two of them but they have good impressive results against Everton and Man City. It will be a game of high quality and I am looking forward to it.''

And I do hope that the kids will knock ARSEnal out of the cup tonight!! That'll be a great feeling to take to the bed after the match!! Woohoo! Any takers?

Short summary:

(1) David Bellion did it in 18.5 seconds after the first whistle was blown. Game over since. 1 goal is enough to piss Arsene.

(2) Alex Ferguson urged FA to take action against Robin Van Persie for elbowing Kieran Richardson during second half. Referee booked both players for the flare-up which followed, but did not send the Gunner off. What a swipe.

(3) Semi's: Man Utd to play Chelsea, Liverpool versus Watford

(4) I am a happy man.

It was one bloody boring match...

And how abt spurs losing to liverpool junior??? Hehehe...weak man...

As long as they're beating ARSEnal, doesn't really matter if it's boring!
