is ps3 cheaper than ps2?
tyre shop quoted around the same price. problem it seems are the tyre sizes. some tyre sizes are not readily available.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

Thank you all for the feedback and the link to previous feedback. Was quoted $340/pc on 225/40/18 but did not check where it's made in...

That's cheaper than PS2. From what I know, some batches are made in Bangkok but haven't heard what's the drawback?

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

Just changed my tires to PS3 225/40/18

Very comfortable but yet grippy. Road feedback and response is very good also.
Noise level OK

PS2 is still available in certain sizes that are not available in PS3. Basically, these are all the N-Spec tyres, 19" and upward sizes. There won't be PS3 in these sizes. These sizes will probably go straight to the new pattern next year...the all new Pilot Super Sport (currently OE on the limited edition Ferrari 599 GTO).

So for the size in question, ie. 225/40 R18, only PS3 is available. PS2 is no longer manufactured.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

Went to change my tyres today. Quite lucky that the shop have the option for me to go for either PS2 or PS3:

Front : 225/45/17
Rear : 245/40/17

PS2 : Quoted SGD1450
PS3 : Quoted SGD1250 (made in France)

I went ahead and selected PS3.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

which shop? im looking for new tires too in 18 inches

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

just changed wifey's ride's PS2 -> PS3 today:
F:225/40/18
R:255/35/18

first impressions:
- very new, extremely quiet. (of course...)
- very new, so can't tell true grip (wet/dry) till scrub-in
- rather wet roads here n there today, had several puddles on the lane1 of ECP.
- EXCELLENT aqua-planning (comparing PS2 previously, PP2 on my other ride, CSC3 on dad's ride)
- in fact, was wondering where those water dissappeared to...
- wet (damp) grip (on new condition) very progressive.
- can't wait for scrub in to try out: so.... exit fm ECP to Telok Blangah @ approx 90 (over-taking lane at curve) ... road was a little damp still... grip was much better than even my previous scrubbed (maybe too hard?) PS2, my relatively new PP2, and CSC3.
- so far, 1st day ownership was satisfying.
- much too look forward to!
...
- wondering abt CSC5... hmmm...

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

Changed 1 week ago, Preceda 2 -> PS3 on my other car.

F/R: 225/55 R16

Suprisingly quiet.
Grippy
Less body roll

Very impressed.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport - PS3

I have been on PS3 for about 5 months now, with several trips on NSE.

Grip is outstanding in wet and dry conditions under 180km/h. I felt "glued" to the road, very similar to PS2.

I thought the PS2 may be a little quieter though.

Alvin.
