Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

Mk2 specs??

I heard the Mk2 turbo coming out this year is going to have wet sump lubrication and the GT1 block will be replaced due to direct injection??

Fark GT3 and turbo.... which one to get if I jump the wagon?

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

Mk1 look more aggressive......nicer body kit

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

MkII specs

3.8L
435 bhp
317 lb-ft
0-60 in 4secs
same dry sump engine and weight as MkI

front axle lifts by 30mm electronically
new rear spoiler
revised rear bumper design
new rims with center locks
lightweight rear decklid

see the porsche website here

From the inner sanctum. The new 911 GT3.

Marginal improvement in my opinion.

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

Most new porsches on paper look like a marginal improvement. I know most porsche owners who immediately sold of their current cars to get the new ones after a test drive. According to them, the improvement was large and superior to their previous ones.

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

GT3 or Turbo?

For daily and if u wanna go crazy with power ( assuming PDK can take it ) : Turbo

For a true/real driver's car : GT3

Put it this way, when one is jumping into high end perf car category, GT3 is still not for everyone.

Honestly I find the rear design of the car a tad fussy... (in the traditional 911 sense).

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

In any case, tech improvements are always welcome... but I prefer the cleaner lines in the Mk 1. :)

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled

Porsche is not really known for embracing new tech. Over engineered yes, embracing new tech no. Porkers were not even bluetooth and ipod compatible until the current model MkIIs came out. The GTR on the other hand does a much better job of harnessing new tech.

Re: Mk2 997GT3 unveiled
