Mods and mods- The outcome!

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

Oh ok i thot i read somewhere it will improve pickup same for ecotek. I'm driving a E46 320CI. Hw abt zstab? Actually, I am looking ard mods that are nt 2 ex 2 try try to improve my pickup and hopefully fuel economy too if nt maintain the normal fuel economy. Maybe I am asking 2 much haha peh seh newbie

Nope, pulleys did not help on my pickup.. did the workshop tells you it will? Same for ecotek bro..... What is your ride?

When my UUC pulleys are installed, can feel gear change smoother instantly.. one of the best mod i done on my ride!! Ecotek accordingly should reduce fuel consumption.. it did but rather marginal...

My take is : UUC pulley 10 out of 10,
Ecotek 5.5 out of 10..

Hope it helps..

Anyone want to add their experience on this two mod do comment..

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

Got a lllooonnnggg list of mods lined up. It's a surprise though!

The only thing hurting now is my pocket. Lol.

Same hear. In my opinion, the pulley is a good mod. Steering will get a tad heavier (which I dun mind) but step off seems easier. The Ecotek I can live without. But I bought my Ecotek used, so no big loss.

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

I have used Ecotek on my 318, 320, 330 and M3 (two each in each car) and Tucson....works for me.

OT - To Pak Jack - yes fitted them at J4C. Amos also fitting the BBK on his Tucson ( he got one too - check out his ride ....loved his momo steering without airbag and his 18 inch black rims !! He is bringing in the BBK.)

No need to paiseh.. keep your questions coming cos many of us here very "Eng" .... kekekekeke.. like T6.

I never tried Zstab.. so dun noe.

If you plan to try Pulleys and Ecotek which price range is about $300-500 estimated, many other mods you can oso lup in... eg:
- better spark plugs
- better engine oil
- Obit (2nd hand many selling)
- CAI
etc....... above 4 simple mod you sure can feel the diff. Thats how i feel so far. I am not driving an E46 so feel might be diff.. fellow E46 kind soul please comment...

Mods are like children

Trying to pick a favorite mod is like trying to pick a favorite child - a futile attempt to achieve not much of anything. Rather than an exercise in futility, I'd like to think of this as a celebration of the wonderful range of options that easy credit affords every single one of us.

Here are my automotive children by category, arranged by youngest first:

OEM:
1. Style 166M 8½J/9½J x 19" Wheels
2. Fineline Aluminium Trim on dash, console, door handles (8 pieces)
3. M Sport Door Sills
4. Hinged Storage Compartment on driver's side
5. M Sport Leather Short Shift Knob
6. M Sport Multifunction Steering Wheel
7. M5 Mirror Housing with anti-dazzle mirrors & auto dipping on reverse
8. M Sport Body Kit (Eldest child of all)

Aftermarket:
1. Michelin Pilot Sport 2 245/35-19 & 275/30-19
2. Purple Ice Coolant Additive
3. RadEnergie Dry Carbon Fibre Engine Cover
4. UUC Evo 3 Short Shift Kit
5. Modified Lock Valve (aka CDV)
6. Synchromax transmission fluid
7. H&R Coilover Suspension Set
8. StopTech Braided Stainless Steel Brake Lines
9. Axxis DeluxePlus Dustless Front Pads
10. Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid
11. HIOP Headers (loudest child)
12. SuperSprint Muffler (most bassy child)
13. DMS ECU Remap (most enigmatic child)

Buns in the oven include:
1. GruppeM Carbon Fiber CAI (don't want to clash with Toto's tartan Kevlar CAI)
2. Kelleners Sport Pulley Set
3. Kelleners Sport Aluminium Race Pedal Set (3 pieces that require drilling)
4. 3.23 Final Drive
5. Max Gear Differential Fluid (already in the store room waiting for #4 above)

I think that more or less sums up the children I have sired since March, 05. The family should be complete by October because the FedEx/DHL stork delivering the last 4 Buns in the oven may have to compete for flying rights by a real baby delivery stork delivering our baby girl on or around 4 October.

I'm hoping later rather than earlier because I'll be in Austria at the Salzburgring for the Advanced & Intensive M3 Training courses in the 3rd week of September. I need to learn to drive the route to and from the maternity ward swiftly yet safely upon the arrival of the real stork.

Anybody know where I can buy a BMW IsoFix Infant Seat and small infant helmets, cheap and new (unused also can)? Or any IsoFix infant seat that matches my Grey Dakota Leather interior?

Happy 40th Birthday to all you Singaporeans from a foreign (non-worker).

Must see ur ride when all in.................

Where can I get a cloaking device for GQ?

TripleM said:

I am hoping to get stealth technology that allows only me to see the car. Know any shops that sell spy tech for concealing cars?
In the meantime, the GQ only goes out at night when there is little or no traffic, and fewer on lookers. She is also allergic to hot weather, so the relatively cool hours of night bring out the best in her.
But seriously, my garbage gets taken out more often than my Garage Queen - its a good thing she likes the quiet life.

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

Hahaha not "eng" lah its just that u all r v helpful

I did some serach abt Zstab seems pretty ok, emailed the co and see wat it costs then maybe i'll then decide. Hmm maybe same for ecoteck but it seems more complex 2 take out next time if i decide nt 2 hve it compared 2 Zstab.

Ya i was thinking of changing to plat. spark plugs, talked 2 juzzforcars guy before he said will improve hp a little bit, more responsive and helps in FC. The guy also asked me changed to a CAI think its cybermind or something like that abt $350 total. Prob is will it increase FC and "noisy"? I dun mind some sound but nt too loud lah

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

Paddleshifts!

With constant use of the paddles and thus more control of the gear changes, the power delivery is more predictable and it's more fun to drive. Driving in "D" mode or even "S" mode feels draggy and unengaging; and since the paddles came with the M-steering wheel, the improved grip is not only sportier, but also more comfortable. Not a big time mod, but a fun mod nevertheless!

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

I think my most enjoyable mod is my Sharkz Eyes... kekekeke.

Its "Cyberspeed CAI". Not mistaken, S$350 does not include installation. Hymics had it installed in his ride.. according to him, he is complaining that the Cyberspeed did not bring extra sound out of his AC exhaust... hahahaha.... The Cyberspeed CAI will not increase the sound of exhaust since its very well concealed unlike the GruppeM. Other than that, he is pretty happy with the cheap CAI. Should not increase FC too. :)

Huay, the reason is becoz Hymics's 7 series is meant to be a luxury car and is very well insulated. Even on my e39 5 series, the insulation is superb and I can barely hear my Simota CAI unless I rev 3,000rpm or above. I like it that way so that it doesn't affect my enjoyment of my ICE. The CAI and exhaust mods are a real good combo. I am very sure my engine sounds very different from a stock 5 series. A much more sporty engine and exhaust note combo. Not much but enough for me to tell the diff.

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

i loved all my handling mods. coilovers, antiroll bar, strut brace, PU bushings, shock mountings, rims, semi slicks. They made it easy to push to the limit, and to control drifts.

the worst mod i have ever done is some fuel magnet stuff that had no effect and i got a refund during the money-back guarantee period when i was driving my 318i.

It's nice being a modhead isnt it?

Oops haha got the name wrong. Oh ok thot its $350 w/ installation. Does nt increase FC ah thats gd but will it increase hp or torque? Ya its nt "nosiy" but the juzzforcars ppl say can remove the cover for more "noise"

Re: Mods and mods- The outcome!

fave mod for me is definitely the eisenmann Ti race exhaust.. love the sound, the looks and definitely a weight saver.
next would be the KW v3 coils and my BBS RS-gt rims.

well the mod that did the least for me has to be the strut bar, just cos i didnt really feel a great difference since i wasn't able to track the car, so its not a noticeable difference under regular driving condition and sometimes you just almost forget you have it.

but definitely like all the mods ive done, otherwise i wouldnt have gone ahead and installed them.
