i am the visual type, where on earth is the air hose thingy???

You can find them on Sandy's long legs... in my hey days, we call it panty hose..don't why SSZone call it air hose... maybe short form for those worn by air-hostesses... me think.

hi mates,
again thanx 4 havin me onboard this forum.
Now, If I may, can I seek some opinion on something that has been bothering me for some time now. It’s my e36, now It’s been consuming fuel. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.
My 325coupe consumes 58liters for 345km, now is this a norm? coz, some mates I know say they get more, say 500+km and more.

Now, I’ve changed [NEW]:
O2 sensor, Knock sensor, fuel filter, air filter….even a NEW gearbox to a NEW rear pipe with muffler [note: this is done not bcoz of the heavyfuel consumption. ]

Has anyone, faced this problem before? Any advise, mates

Sorry mates, my enthusiasm sometimes does the best of me.
On my E36...with M43B18 1.8 L (1796cc) engine which packs a 115hp punch does over 500Km plus per tank...

Im a free sprited driver...being an Auto driver...I love my sports shift and usually speed over the speed limit...

but then again...being a 1.8...slight difference...Driver habit, wheels etc all contribute to the overall usage of your car

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

Hi,

Just to share I just got my E36, 318i about 2 weeks ago. Had did a calculation on my FC. for 59litres of fuel I only manage a 435KM. Oxygen sensor not working too well as there is a strong fuel fumes observed during idle. My ride has a 17s and wearing falken tyres 215/45/17.:whythis:

Any bros here have any suggestions as to improve the comsumption?
Cheers!

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

seems like oxygen sensor is a major problem for most e36...i wonder how much it cost to replace it...any idea anyone??

another component worth looking into is probably the air flow meter, aka air mass meter, a new piece cost $800...wonder if anyone knows where else to get it cheaper...

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

why buy new when you can get the air mass from Propel. Just look for Bro Guni.

Hey, 17 inch ,215 may have a smaller final diameter as compared to the original set up . The mileage clocked may by more that actual !!

seems to be getting better fc after changing the air induction hose leh, old one hardened liaozz :cloud9:
its the big fat hose connecting your manifold to the airflow sensor which then connects to your air filter
ya almost forgot, couldn't resist the temptation n bought a M3 Cf keychain at engsoon while buying the hose

like to check with u b4 u change ur air induction hose ur fuel consumption how much , change already becomes how much? cos my 320 can onli go at ard 400
:(

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

driving habit plays a major role... my 318iS running on 17" AC rims, 225/45/17 manual gearbox, clock 8.5-10km/ litre depending on how many Sandy club meet up. If no meet up usually 10km/litre.. clock 550km for 56litres last pump.

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

thanz for the advise. will take note start changing my habit haha and do more meet up with u all.

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

mine is E37 Z3 using same M44 1.9L engine as 318iS. I get around 8.5 - 9km/L with 85% heavy traffic driving and 20% open and low traffic roads.

Re: my e36 consumes fuel.

If you engine is drinking more petrol than usual, you may want to get its compression checked. Sometimes, leaking valves/piston rings causes air to leak out of the combustion chamber, reducing efficiency significantly.

Btw, hows the idling of the engine? Is it normal or feels rough?
