National Flag

I remember over the years, most Singaporeans would enthusiastically fly the Singapore flag outside their homes every August. I took this pic yesterday, just days before National Day.

However, I realized that this year, the number of flags you see hanging from the corridors is much much less.

Is it just me or has everyone else noticed this?

so far i've seen the bangla town council workers hanging those banners on lamp posts. Corridors i've not seen yet.

Re: National Flag

I see a parallel when Singapore Lions play.

In the haydays, many will rush to stadiums or stay at home to cheer for Quah Kim Song, Samad and gang when they played Soh Chin Onn and Santokh Singh and Arumugam. And the same happened when Fandi, Sundram and Malek and gang played Zainal Abidin and Mohktar Dahari.

Now, some foreign players scored and kissed the soccer jersey's national flag, but I hardly feel any pride like before. I hope it is just me.

Re: National Flag

As far as I know, Bobby Tay's national flag is this..goes with his red M3

Re: National Flag

alot of the flags in the both the past n present were hung by the RCs and town councils.

same feeling too...no pride
feels like as if we bought it (not applicable to sar lau....as per Prof Bobby analogy)

Re: National Flag

Maybe our new citizen dnt know where to buy the flag? Tot we had it given free when we are born here.....almost 50% of Singaporean now is nt born here so can only expect the other 50% to put it up.......

If our govt give them free flag....wonder what will true blood Singaporean will feel....

Re: National Flag

Not sure if one notice, our garmen and ministers all very quiet after election. This NDP also very low profile.

How would you feel if someone do this when you shake his hand.

Re: National Flag

ben, what we are referring to is not qiu li nor do we question his pride or allegiance.
its more like no pride in getting a whole team of foreigners just by giving them citizenship VS training new citizen talents from young
i would definitely take more pride in the latter.
right now, its akin to buying instant noodles n eating it.
i old fashion, prefer to cook claypot noodles, taste and smell better....hahaha
