Need Advice (E46 or E39)

I am would like to know which model would be better? E46 or E39?

What to take note when buying a 2nd hand E46 or E39? any specific thing to look out like subframe cracking ( that's what I heard about E46)

Hope you guys can share your knowledge with me.

1 advice, get a 6 cyc at least if you are getting E46......E39 minmum is 6 cyc

6 cyc meaning 325i or 328i or 330i??? they seem to have lot of model for e46 haha.

Hi Darryl,

yes, pre-FL version of E46 320i is 2L M52 engine plus 323i is 2.5L both also using M52 engine 6cyc..
FL 320i is M54 engine 2.2L, 325 (2.5L) and 330i (3L)......

latest FL version of E46 318i is 2L, 4 cyc

E39 same as well.....pre FL model are using M52 till FL version is M54 engine...

you go do a google search just in case i missed-out a few percentage of the info..........

Agree. Straight 6 is the way to go but 46 and 39 are very different in built, space, looks...etc which is more 'you'?

Quite hard to say. I find both look good.

maybe I like both cause their body kit quite similar haha

But I am more concern of which model give more major problem cause it is a 2nd hand car.

why not 6 cyc? many people say 6 cyc better when i see the other posts in the forumn.

used car is used car..............so is better to have it check from a workshop or best if the previous owner service it at a workshop and you may continue with their service after paying them a visit to learn about the history of this used car.................it definitely make it easier for you to better make a decision.

or keep us posted on the unit you saw............you'll be surpised maybe the previous owner is from here...........................C3P0 used to have a solid looking E46........

Stock 320i will cause the traffic jam..lol

Buy I6 la..Maintenance wise, 5er > 3er i reckon.

e39 is very rare. most of them have already been exported .

Hi,

used to drive an E46 325 cabrio. great ride and quality (manufactured in Germany as I understand), timeless look. wld recommend that IMHO.
