Hi All
Need some help on the above. Have searched but to no avail, so thought I'd post up and get some quick feedback as I may not have time this 2 days to drop by BVO for a check. BTW, my ride is a FL E46 320.
Here goes:
Over the weekend 2 warning lights came on :
1) Auto Transmission (symbol of exclamation mark inside a circular gear) :
Decided to do a bit of spirited driving so I was on the Manual (M) mode of the Steptronic function. Was upshifting from M3 to M4 at approx. 4500 rpm (must say that was the max. I ever went, nothing close to redlining) when the orange warning light came on - just a quick flash for less than 1 sec duration. Did not experience any loss of power or jerky/notchy gearshift at that point. After that I shifted back to D and after a while to S and M again, car drives as normal and gearshifts are the same, as smooth as ever. I just changed my ATF last month and related filter/gasket recently. What could be the problem?
2) Engine Oil Level
Happen twice, both times as I parked the car and upon turning off the ignition, just before the engine shuts down. Again it appears for less than 1 sec duration. Car was serviced around 8k km ago and my service interval countdown reading currently shows 15k km (long way to go before BMW’s 25k km oil change). Was planning to change engine oil at the midway mark at 10k km (as recommended by many here) so it does seem pretty quick if the engine oil levels are indeed insuffucient and depleting.
On a separate note, as I turn on the ignition to Step 1 upon starting the engine the “Inspection” word will light up alongside the current service interval countdown reading. Either I am blind or something but I do not normally recall seeing the "Inspection " word. If say, it was really due for inspection, I have also recently done Inspection II stuff and replacement of parts and the necessary checks at BVO as the same time as the abovementioned ATF change and everything is in order. So what could be the problem here? Would it be solved by simple reset procedure?
Any of you had similar experiences? Would appreciate any feedback and advise!
Thanks in advance
Cheers
