Hi All,

Sorry I got to post this thread here. Unable to post it at Technical Discussion.

I just got my new 3 Series with 16-inch and tyre-55. Not quite sexy leh..was thinking of 18 inch with slightly low profile tyre. But will I lose the comfort of the ride which I have invested in?

Need advice from those experience bimmers out there.

thank you.

Re: Need Advice on Changing Rims & Tyres

My experience of changing from 17" RFTs to 19" non RFs did not suffer any loss of comfort.

Loss of comfort is marginal. Also depends on what tires ur on

Hi newkid,

is true that 18ins with low profile will make your ride looks better. Comfort wise still ok (no problem). Tyres will play a part as well in this comfort area.

happy searching.
cheers

Whatever you do stay away from Bridgestone RFT RE050...I think go for Michellin P2 or P3 ...sure safe in terms perf/comfort

Re: Need Advice on Changing Rims & Tyres

go to 18"s - will make an immediate difference to the look of the car. lower it a bit will look even better.

michellin ps2 or ps3 are nice but expensive. plenty of alternatives that are better value IMO.

Hi newkid,

can try Yoko S Drive (quite affordable) if not Bridgestone RE-11

happy searching.............
cheers

Re: Need Advice on Changing Rims & Tyres

Ride comfort WILL be compromised for sure - to what extent depends on individual buttfeel. But with wider tyre width, grip will improve, on top of aesthetic appeal.

Agreed with ac323. My prev. 3 series has got the Yoko S drive 18". Not that ex and give a good grip. The even better from Yoko is Advan Sport.

My take is, go for rims that strike and tyres that perform.

Re: Need Advice on Changing Rims & Tyres

Hi Newkid;
My own experiences on the Bridgestone RE760. Had changed to this 19 inch 30 & 35 profile tire for about more than a month, was quite surprise that how silent & comfortable it is with such low profile, not to mention the dry / wet road grip it is capable of. The only worries is it is non RFT, so if travel up north, it will be quite inconvenient.
Any Bro’s know of a good solution to this?

Thought of sharing the good stuff.

Cheers!!

It's a 12V DC air pump, and you can also fix punctures with the puncture repair "can"...
