One could not possibly try every brand and model on the same car. So the best thing to do is secondary research. I do my research based on Tire Rack's model.
Best thing you could do is have a standard grid of parameters set up, with the following in place:
Dry Grip - Traction, Steering Response, Cornering
Wet Grip - Traction
Thread Wear
Weight (based on same size)
Comfort - Ride Comfort and Noise
Do note that some of these are quantitative in nature (thread wear/weight) and some are qualitative in nature (ride comfort, noise, cornering). We assume adequate sampling size in the survey.
And you will have a grid with a proper basis of evaluation based on what you need. Accord different weightage to your parameters.
