Need Help: E36 Instrument cluster problem

My instrument cluster died on me. There's no digital display of mileage and all the analog meters are not moving. Only thing working is all the lights.

Looked at all the fuses and also took the cluster out to open and see if anything is loose..nothing seems to be wrong. Anyone else driving a '93 316i? Could I borrow your instrument cluster to swap in and out and see whether my cluster needs to be replaced?

One way to check - send to a good BMW workshop to check. Juzz for car or Euro Auto. Check is free what.

maybe should just check the tachometer located at your differential...
my E30 dial all went dead when I got back from Segamat recently!!!

found that the connector was disconnected from it, so my dial and odometer (mechanical) went dead for that period... pluc it back, swee swee liao!!

Thanks guys...sent to BVO already as couldn't wait any longer. Turns out my instrument cluster is faulty after 340,000km of faithful service

yes changed the whole instrument cluster to another one.

the instrument cluster i changed to has a mileage which is around 90,000+...and it reflects as 90,000+...legally will there be any issues?

Change instrument cluster to a lower mileage - no issue one lah. I change mine from a 120,000km to a 30,000km one. At vicom inspection, they no bother as dont think its affect safety.
Guess it cost u abt $400+ for a "new" instrument cluster?
