just spent 900 sgd on my e60 2009

engine mount
fan belt
idel bearing
belt tensioner
absorber

to fix some ticking sound coming near engine area
and fix vibration while idling...

but it seems like after replacing those items, the sound and vibration is still there... the workshop told me its actually my alternator that is causing the ticking sound and the vibration..

so im quite thrown off by that, hoping someone here can recommend a reliable workshop with reasonable pricing. thanks

I also have that noise especially when idling. I discovered that it the engine cover that is not secured down.
( the cover is the one with the word "BMW" on it and is obstructed by the engine oil cap). I cannot find any catch or whatever that holds it down firmly. Maybe my workshop broke the catch when changing all the engine internal stuffs. A lot of hot stuff at the area so cannot use cable tie to secure it. Wires also afraid will cut or short circuit whatever, so just left it.

you can try open the bonnet and take a look during idling, is it the same root cause as mine. Otherwise, just look for any of the site sponsors majoring in repair work for diagnosis. good luck!

I'm sure that the site sponsors listed here are all trustworthy and reliable. Might want to give them a call to find out more?
