Guys, Look for Gadafi..
the starting power of these batteries are as good as standard batteries as they use porour lead plates that drastically increase discharge current capacity. But because they are lighter, they do not have that much lead and thus the total capacity is much lesser than a standard battery.

ps: it you have a Cab top, these batteries are a no no...

cheers

happy modding

just to add on a bit,
odyssey battery uses 99.9% pure lead, more plates compare to others to increase cranking current (CCA) and they uses compressed AGM (Absorbed Glass Matplate) separator. Odyssey are the only battery that have high CCA and long standby power. They got both worlds.

Re: *Need Tolong* Recommendation for CAR BATTERY.

After creeping around searching high and low for the right battery, i decided i wanted to get an Odyssey battery after Gad lured me into his claws.
However, unfortunately i wasnt able to wait for the next shipment because i upgradedmy I.C.E and i badly required a larger battery (was running on BMW 70amp batt). So, my good man Gadaffi offered me an alternative... Another battery that he was bringing in. Midac Batteries.

This battery was made in the Italy and like Odyssey batteries, they could last up to 3 years and more. Best thing bout this battery was the reasonable price. Retail price for the battery i got was $250 for the 80amp batt. Apparently the largest batt that they have available. Also, the Midac battery is the same size as my stock 70 amp battery and weighed even lighter.

It has been more than 2 weeks since i installed the battery and so far no problems encountered while driving or with my I.C.E

Overall, a damn good battery at a damn reasonable price.

Many thanks to Gadaffi for hooking me up with this battery so quickly.

Hi bro,
Make sure your alternator are able to 'support' its rating, else your battery will be always in it 'discharge' state, indirectly shorten it's life...

:)

Re: *Need Tolong* Recommendation for CAR BATTERY.

Gad,

You have a battery for my car? Nissan Skyline or better known as Infinity G35? I have upgraded my alternator to HO 225 amp.

The car is carrying around quite a bit of ice and the engine bay can get pretty hot.

My current draw is pretty high because of the ice and other mods.

I would prefer a AGM battery.

Let me know...thanks.

Re: *Need Tolong* Recommendation for CAR BATTERY.

I have a E60 525i 3.5 yrs old and when I start up, the clock needs to be reset each time?

Is this an indication that my battery is giving out? The date seems to be fine, just the time that needs to be reset. Once reset, the next time I start the car up, I get the warning message again - reset clock.

Re: *Need Tolong* Recommendation for CAR BATTERY.

Unlikely that it has smth to do with your battery...
Should probably let BVO - Ah Wee take a look and diagnose for you...

Re: *Need Tolong* Recommendation for CAR BATTERY.

The battery is 3 and a half years old and I have this problem after leaving the car standing for 2 weeks and do a short dive down to the shops.

Now that I have done a long run (Tuas) - it seems to have cured the problem.

I did go to BMW and they quote $500 plus for a battery change and reset, taking half a day. They did say I can buy a new battery outside, but it will go flat after a couple of days as the alternator will not recognize the new battery unless the system is reset.

So how does BVO deal with this situation?

They also said my problem could be the alternator - whatever, it sounds like I have to spend some serious $ soon.
